If you haven't heard and are looking forward to getting Lost Planet 2 well prepare to get dissapointed. Capcom announced that they are having disc troubles fitting all the content on the 360's disc capacity. What does this mean? Well capcom have had to cut significant amount of content from the game and add it as DLC. I chuckled to myself that the 360 version would not get the full game.

However, although i thought us PS3 users would have the full content due to our blu-ray capacity, i was wrong. Just today i found a new article (off of N4G) that reveals that we will be getting as much content as the 360. They aren't going to put as much content as they can until the blu-ray is filled. Now if Square Enix can fit FFXIII all on one blue-ray disc then Capcom should be able to do the same. But now we're going to have to pay for DLC that Capcom has said is "Significant" to the game.

I understand why they would charge, as it was suppose to be on the disc. However if they wont put the content on multiple discs (which they said they wont) then when we buy the game we shouldn't have to pay for the DLC because we are expected to have all the game content that was originally meant to be on it.

Heres the LINK

What do you guys think?

Here's where Capcom is presented with a choice: 1. Get money 2. Not get money Unfortunately, I think we all know which path they would choose.

Well after the demo I decided not to buy the game anyway. To be honest that is really stupid. Why in the hell do we have 50 gig disc if game companies are not going to use them..

They just wanted more money. There is no reason to do that for the PS3 game if the choice was really so hard for them, and they could make multiple disks for the 360. Or just have the DLC all be day one and free for the 360 version.

Although I completely agree this sucks for us PS3 owners, but let it be known that Microsoft's 360 owners probably make Capcom more $$$ in the long run. So why would Capcom try and piss that market off. Instead they chose to make both sides of the coin equal. Both, PS3 and 360 owners, will need to shell out the same amount of cash to experience the very same amount of game. Believe me, I think this sucks, but what are we gonna do. Someone will probably say 'well, maybe PS3 owners should just not purchase this game', but all that will do is move Capcom closer to the 360 owners...because that's where the money will be. Capcom honestly should just make this a 2 disc title for 360 owners, but we all know that won't happen. there is $$$ to be made with DLC:(

they are favoring the 360 version some developers would have just put it on 360 as dlc and give it to playstation thats why they have marcus fenix in the 360 version and the ps3 gets nothing i bet ps3 version is going to be a port

That sucks, and I was looking forward to this game too. Why don't they just stick the full game on the PS3 disc and on the Xbox version just gve a voucher or maybe have the rest of the content available for download (for free) on Xbox live...?

It's stupid whether you were going to buy the game on the ps3, the 360, or whatever other platform they were intending to release it on. It's stupid on the ps3 side because the disc very well could have fit all the stuff that they'd wanted to put in the game...and then some. It's also retarded for 360 players because it's effectively Capcom admitting that they're not getting the full game on that disc, and are going to be stuck having to pay extra for DLC and shuffling through points systems in order to juggle being able to get the requisite content. Not to mention, Capcom has been rather stingy in general with DLC, making a lot of things that were probably already on the original disc/download into DLC 'unlocks'... remember the extra difficulty settings or Proto Man mode in Mega Man 9? Or the alternative costume packs for Street Fighter IV?

This would be perfectly fine if they dropped retail price at launch to match up for what you would pay for the DLC.

Here's where Capcom is presented with a choice:

1. Get money
2. Not get money

Unfortunately, I think we all know which path they would choose.

Charging for DLC that people think should already have been included in the game could cause them to lose money so the decision is not as clear as you think it might be.

When you factor in the informed versus uninformed consumers, the uninformed demographic wins. As long as those people don't know that what they're paying extra for should have been a part of the game, Capcom cashes in.

If "losing money" means having a few people boycott the game, then this number is insignificant to those who unknowingly purchase the content. It might outrage the people in the forums and possibly lose sales here, but we only represent the few people who know what happened during development before buying the games in contrast to those who will pick it up after doing some basic research (if any) that doesn't go beyond "LOL THAT LOOKS LIKE A COOL GAEM!"

There's almost no chance of loss with DLC, and the staggering rate of which developers are adapting this post-launch money-making scheme reflects this. Sounds like a clear decision to me.

Here's where Capcom is presented with a choice:

1. Get money
2. Not get money

Unfortunately, I think we all know which path they would choose.hazelnutman

I think you're underestimating the percent of the gaming universe that are on gaming sites. Otherwise, you're probably right.

ya why have big discs if no one uses the space even if they did its all graphical enhances , no actual game content.

lots of 360 games have less then 10 maps-fpses , ,

or levels to complete-pd0 halo 3 etc ,

compare to a game like the first perfect dark even goldeneye which has 18 officail missions plus a extra 2 making 20 plus the multiplayer only maps -8 -caves temple complex stack basement library and 4 taken from missions-facility bunker archives and egyptian

plus loads of selectable charactes none of the 360 games have this -pd0 only has 8 skins to choose from ,

thats less the 80 percent of what pd64/xbla has

blame it all on dlc

Couldn't the dlc be free though?ryrulez

Lol this is all a lie to charge for DLC.

They probably though console gamers were too stupid to notice they charged for RE5 Versus mode when it was already on the disc. Kind of like how Japan though Super Mario Bros 2 would be too hard so they released some garbage version that a paralyzed person could beat.

There's much bigger games that offer much more than Lost Planet 2. Anyone gullible enough to fall for this must be a hardcore Microsoft hater. or a blind Capcom follower.
