I ordered from Amazon. I already have a game waiting for that beast to arrive. I'm also getting a second Sixaxis from Amazon.

What are the first things I want to do when I get my PS3? Besides you know....all the mushy stuff.:P

The unpacking of any new console is one of the best parts, but unpacking the PS3 was my favorite ever. The thing is so glossy and hi tech looking, it's just gorgeous.

Get your setup all ready. Clear off your shelf/desk/entertainment center, dust it off and make sure you have a plug ready for your new PS3. Be absolutely sure that you give it proper breathing room and that the surface you will keep it on is stable.

Make sure that if you have a HDTV you get the appropriate cables, be it HDMI or Component. If you want a headset now, make sure to get one. Or if you plan to get Warhawk later this month just wait for that.

Now just wait. Your new PS3 is coming soon and you best have a nice clean spot ready for it because it deserves no less.:P

you need to set up a psn account, and download GTHD and check out heavenly sword demo, what game do you have?? Resistance would last you a good month with the online until some great titles come out in september, also I just beat sigma and that is a great game.

The PS3 looked so cool I was afraid to take it out of the box.

But anyway on topic. You should try out demos, that's what I did xD. Virtua Tennis (although short) was fun and Full Auto: Battlelines (I think it's called, also short btw) was also fun. Though I'm not gonna buy them and I have a feeling a lot of people will disagree with me. Ninja Gaiden Sigma had an AWSOME demo. You get to try all the bonus stuff so I didn't see a reason to buy the game lol that is if you've tried out NG on Xbox. And warning about that R:FoM demo, the controls are bad. GRAW was awsome though, and Darkness (watched the whole episode of popeye). Heavenly Sword was good too in my opinion but not spectacular. Hoping for that Stranglehold demo to come out soon.

Did I mention I don't own a PS3 game and have had a PS3 for about 2 weeks :P. Bought DMC 3 Special Edition though so I had something to keep me company till Stranglehold comes out (might get Warhawk though).

buy oblivion and resistance, if you want something that's fun every once in awhile pick up calling all cars for 10 bucks. nothing else is worth spending any money on. Another thing I do with is rip my DVDs using HandBrake and store them on my PS3. So it's an apple TV in itself. First thing you should do though, is transfer all you ps1 and ps2 game saves if you have any.

What he said. And also you will be busy trying to figure out all the features under the XMB for 2-3 days.

Thank you to all of those who responded. I'm going to do all of this, but the main thing I would like to do is find a nice place to set the PS3 down. I will put a picture up later and see if you guys think it'd be fine. :)

I had a camera ready when I opened mine for the first time. It was so shiny. I didn't want to touch it. We had a very intimate photo shoot together. Have fun!!

Run the updates to get up to firmware 1.90 (unless there is a newer version)

Then play the game that you have. WHen you are done, go on PSN and set to download in backgroundseveral demos. Then go to sleep and wake up to install those demos which takes only a few minutes each. And then you can play those too.
