Luckily with in-game XMB, you can actually resign in without quitting the game...
But yeah disable Media Server Connection, and disable the Information bar as well. But it could also be a router problem...
yes DSL on a wireless router=EPICSUX!
I'd rather have dang dialup than mess with that EVER again.

Actually it works quite well. A lot better than I expected. I'll admit that I don't play online a majority of the time, but when I do it's really quite stable. When I move I'll definitely be getting cable and using a wireless-n router. The router is just lying in wait.
then you Sir are one of the luckiest chaps on this planet because ever since we switched from cable to DSL, connection stability went straight into the poop tank.
you're more an exception to the rule, I stand convinced of that now.
Well then, I am sorry for you. My wireless strength for the PS3 is at around 73%, I think. Plus the router's downstairs about 50 ft away. I dunno. Maybe there's some magic wireless to PS3 gnomes at work in my place. That's the only logical conclusion I can come up with.
Sounds like you need to move where there's cable. While I don't primarily use online for my gaming I definitely appreciate the fact that I have it as an option.
thing is, I use a laptop near my ps3,so they are about equal distance from the router, laptop is A-OK..PS3 will have none of it lol. I gave up on online stuff for PS3 weeks ago. Which is unfortunate because I have Burnout and I can't stay connected long enough to get the new update to change the music. Oh well.HardbodyHank
Same for me. I have my PC right next to my PS3 and the PC never loses net connection and my PS3 has started doing it quite a lot recently, and my wireless router is downstairs. Although I just unplugged it, left it for awhile and plugged it back in and it hasn't d/c in awhile. But these things happen.

Maybe we can start a "Help HardbodyHank Move" fund. Have the gaming community unite! Honestly though, man, most of us gamers are pretty selfish. So it probably wouldn't work. Sorry.
yeah we're switching back in a couple of months when I move, I am counting the days. I DO have a few walls seperating the PS3 from the router, but it's sort of out of my control (I don't own the router lol). But I do have permission to use it. It, like yours, is about 60 ft away.

lol thats ok..I'll get it straightened out eventually. At least I got normal laptop internet. so all is not lost.
i will check on firmware and no on the IP adressrmerri52Ok you should set your IP address to manual because often times the ps3 trys to assign an IP address that a computer on your network may have. So assign it something like 192.168.1.200 or something high!
its a linksysrmerri52
Yep. and it's because of it has a firewall builtin.... get a Netgear G type. make sure with no firewall built in.... or just use ethernet cable.
