Can someone help me?

I know you find him in a scrap yard. But, where is this scrap yard? I know it's probably easy to find, but I always seem to miss things that are right next to me, how far is it from say Arefu or Megaton?

I want the Doggy.

i snipered him from a distance (at the time i didnt even know u could get partners) so i never got the chance to get close enough to him so it can go into dialoge mode. and was extremly pissed wen i found out

Easiest way i found to do it is to take the quest from moira in megaton for the survival guide (provided you did not blow up megaton). When she tells you to go to minefield, make that your active quest so that you can walk there easily. After you finish minefield, just walk back towards megaton and you should see some large concrete walls, and junked cars everywhere. go inside there and you're in the junk yard. You will encounter a bit of raiders close to the left side of the junk yard and you should see dogmeat. He will walk up to you and start a dialog.
