This Is What I'm Using To Get My PS3 Online And It Gives Me A Error Every Time, I Hate This Thing - http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-WG111US-Wireless-G-USB-Adapter/dp/B0009N544A/ref=pd_cp_e_3?pf_rd_p=413863501&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0002LHX8O&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1W5X08T7BJAJT1D6RYEZ

I decided to post this in system wars because the PS3 forums like to ignore people.

Well, where should I begin, I've been trying to get help, but you have people who always say stuff I've already tried and its really starting to piss me off because its not working, so I'm going to be stuck on firmware 2.36 permanently on the 80GB PS3 I bought which has what the 40GB has, unless someone can actually help me and not ignore me, which is probable going to happend, thats fine all just be stuck on 2.36 firmware permanently because no one wanted to help.

I have put in the correct IP Address, WEP Key, DNS, etc, its all correct, yet the stupid thing thinks other wise and give me a DNS error. I have gone on my computer and looked up this information several ways and they all give me the same stuff, its all correct, the PS3 just will not except it. People say with people who have this problem, reset you router, well I'm using this stupid NETGEAR wifi adaptor, I don't know if that consider a router or not, but I do know that if I reset it, I won't be able to get a connection at all permanently. I also wish people be more specific when they say reset it, like what do you mean reset it, turn it off? unplug it? Pull all the cords out? because I've done it all and still DNS ERROR.

Then you have people who give you these DNS codes they think might fix the problem, well I did this twice and neither DNS codes work in both situations. For example I went on youtube and someone said to use these to DNS codes instead of are own, well it still didn't work and some else gave some out, that didn't work either.

DNS Primary Is Correct
There Was No Secondary, So I Had To Make It The Same

Whats the problem with not being able to go online on my PS3 you ask, I have no USB drive, so I have to use the internet. I can't go on the Japanese Playstation network and get the games I wanted. I can't save photo, videos, or music I wanted directly from my hard drive to the internet. All my plans a screwed because no one will help me or give me information that actually helps, so what did I decide, I decided to keep my PS3 a firmware 2.36 for the remainder of this gen, since I can't get help and I can't update my system. The fact that its on 2.36 is a bad thing and now I will have no in-game XMB.

Although I plan to download pretty much all my content from the Japanese Playstation Store for personal reasons, I'm just wondering if the firmware 2.43, is really safe for North American PS3, even though they claim it is on the official North American Playstation website, is it really safe, if it was ment for Japanese PS3s why would North America get the update, thats stupid, but the sad thing is, its the only firmware I can update my PS3 with now, so problem after problem keep building up, even people who don't help me add on to my problems .

Also, don't say reset the IP address because if I do this, I will lose my conection permanently and have to do system restore on my computer just to be able to go back on the interenet on my computer.

if you can not figure it out and very people have suggested does not work, then you got 4 options,

1. work with your ispa . most of them have an average or better then average staff.

2. seek porfessional help, contact someone to look at it either geek squad or even then local kid at the game stop,

3. talk to your tech guat work, i am a it manager and i help people that work there for free or sometimes a fee.

The wifi adaptor is hooked up to the computer not the PS3, I was able to obtain every thing and put it in correctly, but it just won't work.

Not a option and would need a heck of a long cable.

well...okay...so your using your computer as a wireless router for the ps3...and your router is not wireless obviously lol. it might be the reason that the ps3 is not getting a direct internet connection cuz your running through two routers on a technicality not sure how it might affect it but it must in someway...and you could update your ps3 without the internet by downloading the file on a usb key and putting it in the ps3...

Ok so here my situation I have a wifi NETGEAR USB adaptor hooked up to my computer, this wifi USB adaptor get its connection from the router in the office, in my house. Should I try to get the PS3 to signal to the router in the office, instead of the wifi USB adaptor. Should I also turn the wifi USB adaptor of while doing this.

I think you are a bit out of your depth on this one. You need a professional, and although I am a professional, I think I might be a bit too drunk at the moment to help you...but I'll give it a go:

Your Netgear USB adaptor is used to connect your PC to your wireless network. It does not create or extend your wireless network in any way so ignore it. It is your wireless router that creates the wireless network and that is what the PS3 must log onto to gain internet access.

You need to know how your network is obtaining IP addresses. If it is dynamic (your router assigns the IP address), then you set your PS3 to get IP address automatically. If the IP address is static (whoever set up the network said use a particular IP address), then you need to tell the PS3 what IP address to use. This will be an IP address that is not being used by any other device on your network but in the same range(i.e: if your PC is using 192.168.2.2 then use 192.168.2.3 as long as no other devices are on your network).

Your default gateway and DNS server should be the IP address of your router. This will also be the same IP address as the default gateway on your PC. For ****** routers, the default is 192.168.2.1 - if you post up what router you are using, then I'm sure someone will look up the default for you.

Your subnet mask will probably be 225.225.225.0.

As long as you have the correct encryption key (I typed mine in wrong when I set mine up and it took me a month to sort it out), and your PS3 is in the range of your wireless network, your PS3 should now be able to connect to the internet.

If you post the details of your router and maybe your PC's O/S, I might be able to help further, but not tonight...I'm gonna bed.
