I bought my PS3 about one month ago ..

But until now I don't know what I need to connect it ..

I have an ADSL connection (512 KB) but my Modem only has one opening for the phone cable ..

So the LAN cable is too big to fit in it and I really got desperate now ..

Please help me and I'll be thankful ..

How is it connected to the PC? Doesn't the same cable work for the Playstation, too?
If you need to install drivers for that modem it won't work anyway because youcan't do thaton the PS3. In this case you would need a router.

It might work if the modem does not require to install drivers. But I'm no pro either. You should ask someone at thestore (if you are not buying on the internet.)

Answer this question.

Oh and you could consider telling us the brand and model name of your current ADSL modem.

With a crappy USB modem your best bet would be to chuck a network card in your PC and then share out the connection from the PC.  You will need to keep your PC on during this time, but it will handle all of the routing.

A better fix would be to buy a decent modem with a built in gateway/router/switch and if you want to go a step above that get wireless built in.  Check out Linksys hardware they have great all in 1 broadband devices.

I connect it to the PC by putting the USB out in the modem to a USB opening in the PC

and the Modem is Speedtouch but no model name or number is in it (it's the modem I'm using now)

Depends on how you connect. Before some weeks I had an USB modem too. I plugged it into the PC and it was online. Then I connected PC and PS3 with a LAN cable and my PS3 could use the internet connection, too (This required to change some network options). Of course the PC has to stay on and online in this case. If your PS3 has a direct connection´with the modem or router the PC does not need tu be running.

it was hard for me, too, to find the right options. unfortunately i do not remember everything i did :/

in the properties of the broadbandconnection you need to allow other users in the network to use this connection. i enabled all checkboxes on this tab. but there might be more to it...

in my case it was a little crazy that i could not connect to the internet via pc first an then let the ps3 connect. it only worked when the pc was offline, then the ps3 requested the internet from the pc and both went online... but i guess that is not normal.

good luck anyway! and if it does not work buy a router.
