OK. i bought a 160GB HD for my PS3 and I want to put it in but I cant because I have a 20GB PS3 and I recently found out you cant open the flap in front on the 20GB so I think I am screwed because I cant find anything to get my data out. The HD was $100 and it has been over a month so i cant return it. If anybody can help it will be much appreciated. ThanksWiiFreak77The Harddrive is on the left side of the PS3. Remove the small cover and unscrew HDD. Here's a video on how to install PS3 HDD.
[QUOTE="simulation"]the only owner of a 20 gb I've ever heard ofbitedcurbnow
LOL You must not hear too well then:P
lol no i do, its jsut that on gamespot I've never seen anyone admit to having one
I dont think I can put the USB Thumb drive anywhere because you have to put in where the flap opens and on the 20GB it doesnt open so please help!WiiFreak77The usb thumb drive plugs into the usb slots on the front of the machine. (Where you plug in the sixaxis to recharge) It will work that way.
Chaos thank you for the video but that is not what I needed but can the USB Thumbdrive hold all of the 20GB of space? I never had one.
Are you trying to get data to your new HDD from your old one? Or are you just trying to install the new HDD without the data? Or both?Chaos thank you for the video but that is not what I needed but can the USB Thumbdrive hold all of the 20GB of space? I never had one.

How-To Guide to Upgrading Your Hard Drive
I need to take out the data from my old HDD and then put in the new one and then put my data back on with the 160GB. Does that help Chaos?WiiFreak77Do you have an iPod or MP3 player? Anything portable with a HDD?
I have and Ipod Video 30 gigs. Why?WiiFreak77Cool. Keep you old HDD in your PS3. Plug in your iPod (you may have to delete some songs or something). Copy your save game files, music, video, and photos to your iPod (demos and game updates dont work). Install new HDD and plug in iPod and copy stuff to new HDD. Try that if you can. Hope it helped.
OK Chaos please give a step by step process on how to put the data on my IPod. Thanks ALOT!WiiFreak77Its not too much to ask. 1. Plug in your iPod with your USB cable that came with the iPod 2. Then go to Saved Data Utility 3. Press Triangle on one of the games. 4. Select Copy and press X to transfer it to your iPod. 5. Do the same with video and music. 6. Unplug iPod. 7. Install new HDD (remember you have to format it). 8. Plug in iPod in new HDD after done formatting. 9. For game data copying, got to Saved Data Utility and press X on your iPod icon. 10. Then transfer and DONE!!! If you need further explanation just ask I'll be happy to help more. PS: iPods take a bit long to register with the PS3. Any other MP3 player would probably work better but iPod works fine.
I will still have my online and everything? And should I just delete the data off of my 20GB because I am never gonna use it again?
So it worked? I hope so. For your PSN online ID, just go to the network and sign in with your password and email. Keep your data just in case. You never know.I will still have my online and everything? And should I just delete the data off of my 20GB because I am never gonna use it again?
