ok, i just got my ps3 from best buy. i dont have a HD tv so i just put the AC power Cord into the ps3 and the outlet. then i hooked up the AV cable up also. i turned it on and it was red on stand by, then i held the on switch and thats when something happened, the light went green then turned a quick yellow then started flashing red. so can you guys give me some big help and tell me what im doing wrong. basicly its not going to the home menu.

Can't find anythind to support your claim in the manual. I think it is either a power surge problem or a malfunctioning component. On a side note, I didn't even know a yellow LED was embedded into it. I knew there was red, green, and blue on the front, but yellow?

Dude, I'm assuming you paid full price for your PS3. That's half a G on something that doesn't work? C'mon. Grab the receipt and take it back while you can.
yeah if u just bought it then take it back, if u call sony god knows how long it'll take to get your knew one back.like i said if u wonna save your self trouble just take ti back to the store and get a new one.
Yeah! If you still have your receit, which you still should, the just take it back and exchange it for another one. This will take like one to two hours as to calling sony. You would have to call them, send it, and then wait for them to send back which could take one or two weeks and that is a long time. if your system does not turn on right and you're sure of it, definitely exchange it. Better safe then sorry.
you may not have had everything connected correctly. I know with my 360 if something wasn't plugged in all the way the light would be yellow and not green, just a theory though. I have never seen a yellow light on my ps3.
Uhh first of all it really doesn't matter where you get a Ps3, you can buy it off a man in a back alley as long as its not open its the same. You also could buy it directly from Sony and it will still have a chance of being broken :P .
I hate dealing with this kind of person. If he wants help, why doesn't he actually post a good description of the problem rather than spouting crap in broken English?
sorry I'm harsh...but for all we know this is some idiot from Microsoft trying to make it sound like PS3s are failing.
