I think Modern Warfare 2 has broken my ps3!

Ok, so I'v had a 120gb slim now since mid September, and it has worked perfectly since I bought it, never crashed or anything. However, since buying CoD 6 on Tuesday, and after the update on (I think it was) Thursday, my PS3 randomly shuts down. It has done it once while on iPlayer and the rest of the time in game. I don't mean it shuts down to stand-by, the whole power goes and I have to flick the switch on the wall to bring it back to stand-by.

Does anyone know if this has anything to do with the Modern Warfare 2 updates? It's not like it's overheating, it's just on a shelf with absolutely nothing surrounding it.

This is the first problem I have ever had with a PS3, and I'v had one since they were first released. I feel like crying! :cry:

Try a different outlet ?

My slim works fine with MW2.

You're overreacting.

the outlet might have bad wiring, you should keep things like this pugged to a surge protector

The wall socket is fine cos my tv, playstation, and sound system are in the same extension lead.

Nvm, I was just wondering if anyone else had something similar and had found a way around it. Just rang Sony and they say they will try to fix it or replace it. The guy basically said 'Yeh it's broke' haha.

Well I've had my 40gig for over 2 years, get home from buying MW2 put it in and go straight to an online deathmatch. Mid way through the match my PS3 shuts off and the light flashes red. called Sony ran through their basic trouble shooting andlong story short I had disasemble the PS3 to get my game out. Once I got my game I went and bought a slim. I DO NOT Like someone elses trash so I bought new instead of the $150 recycle program. Not saying it was MW2 but really ironic if you ask me.

my ps3 once in a while freezes while playing MW2. then i got to turn it off and turn it back on.......i would be PISSED if my ps3 died in the hands of MW2.

It doesen't have to do anything with the game.

Nah it doesn't have anything to do with the game, I am just pissed that all of a sudden it has started crashing for no reason. I'm pretty sure it is an overheating problem though, I downloaded the new firmware update, and then as I was logging into facebook it died again. So I turned it back on straight away, 10 seconds later it just died again.

Usually when a ps3 overheats it just goes to stand-by doesn't it?
