Okay so I just looked at my PS3 and I noticed that the red light that is usually on is not on. I turned the power switch off on the back and then turned it back on but still nothing. I unplugged everything, wiped it clean, plugged everything back in, tried the power switch again and still nothing. What is going on? Any help is really appreciated

Well then it is broken. Call Sony, or try to exchange it at the store you purchased it from.

Either way shouldn't hurt your console, however if you have a surge protector then I recommend leaving it in standby. That way the parts won't cool down and then suddenly have current flowing through them.
