That's a long wait. I'm interested in the fact that PSOne and PSP games can be played on it. I think I might take a chance on it. Maybe.

best to see a list of compatible psp games that work on the vita because not all do.ok im confused. :?
in other threads ppl say ALL PSP games work on the Vita.. now its Not all PSP games work on the Vita?
which is it?
The Vita WILL NOT PLAY PSOne games purchased previously from PSN. And it would stand to reason that like when the PSP Go hardware hit, the claim that the whole PSP library will be available on the Vita is not gonna happen either. They don't want you playing PSP games like "ModNation" on the new hardware when they've got a new title to sell along with it. Figure on a very selective cross-over of PSP games. Sony is trying to make a bunch of jumps here in terms of digital backward compatibility, and what can be done on an account because of all the game-share nonsense they got reemed by in the last set of hardware (PSP & PS3). Sony has been gushing profit loss for years because of piracy & consumer scamming like game-sharing, and with the Vita, they're drawing a line in the sand. Rightfully so, I guess.
I think that their current line of not allowing us at least the PSOne games associated with our account is ridiculous, and it will keep me from buying this generation of handheld as long as it is maintained. But, this is the world we live in when as a community, we turned a blind eye or participated in game-share or other schemes which cheated Sony and their associated publishers & devs out of the money they had a right to. All of these tightenings of the legal belt by Sony are a direct reflection of piracy, actual or perceived, in the industry. And it doesn't matter now if Sony is being truthful about revenue losses or not, the fact is that they have this stone to throw & shield to hide behind because we as gamers allowed it to happen. We gave it to them, so now they're going to use it... With the full support of the legal system.
