I have the money to buy one, and get games to be comfortable with it. I just do not want to buy something that will be a paper weight in a few months. The Vita hasn't been selling well and that scares me, not to mention the games coming out are rather lack luster. I do not want to buy into something that will die out, yet I have been vastly impressed with the hardware and the games I have seen on it. What should I do? Is it worth going after?

wait till e3 to see what games will be out in the future and the hopes (but slim chance) of a price cut to boot.

That's a long wait. I'm interested in the fact that PSOne and PSP games can be played on it. I think I might take a chance on it. Maybe.

at the moment the only way to play psone games is via remote play on your ps3 and best to see a list of compatible psp games that work on the vita because not all do. Though a bulk of main popular ones do.

I like the tech, but there are currently no 'must have' games for me. With that said, the PSP is my most favorite system of all time and the only one that gets any playtime from me as of late. So I expect to pickup a vita at some point or another.

The PSvita is worth it. I took the early adoption plunge and don't regret it. Uncharted Golden Abyss, Lumines Electronic Symphony and Rayman origins are Great.I also have Dungeon Hunter alliance and Little Devients (which was the pack in game) They are good but not great games. Not all launch games are going to be top notch.

Plus I got Motorstorm RC as a free throw in.

I really enjoyed the PSP so PSvita was a definate purchase for me.

The Vita WILL NOT PLAY PSOne games purchased previously from PSN. And it would stand to reason that like when the PSP Go hardware hit, the claim that the whole PSP library will be available on the Vita is not gonna happen either. They don't want you playing PSP games like "ModNation" on the new hardware when they've got a new title to sell along with it. Figure on a very selective cross-over of PSP games. Sony is trying to make a bunch of jumps here in terms of digital backward compatibility, and what can be done on an account because of all the game-share nonsense they got reemed by in the last set of hardware (PSP & PS3). Sony has been gushing profit loss for years because of piracy & consumer scamming like game-sharing, and with the Vita, they're drawing a line in the sand. Rightfully so, I guess.

I think that their current line of not allowing us at least the PSOne games associated with our account is ridiculous, and it will keep me from buying this generation of handheld as long as it is maintained. But, this is the world we live in when as a community, we turned a blind eye or participated in game-share or other schemes which cheated Sony and their associated publishers & devs out of the money they had a right to. All of these tightenings of the legal belt by Sony are a direct reflection of piracy, actual or perceived, in the industry. And it doesn't matter now if Sony is being truthful about revenue losses or not, the fact is that they have this stone to throw & shield to hide behind because we as gamers allowed it to happen. We gave it to them, so now they're going to use it... With the full support of the legal system.

i never thought i'd say this but for me it did become a brick. now people don't hate on me. After finishing games like uncharted and virtual tennis and some others... all i'm doing now is playing psp games on it. Makes me wonder why I don't just buy a psp. The vita games keeps getting delayed ...e.g. silent hill was supposed to be released 2day in the UK but got shifted to next month. No news on any of the games that sony says are TBA. It just seems like sony just made a console and forgot about it. No attempt in advertising or making it popular whatsoever.

It's worth it to me, but it is very expensive. I'd say wait, unless you're in some sort of hurry. I'm not buying many games for it right now because the cost of the system (3G bundle), and a few games I got for it are already expensive. Need to let that pass for a while, wait for sales and general price drops of games, then I'm good. I would've waited, but I wanted to get the hardware out of the way so I could focus on the games once they lower in price. I got Wipeout 2048. It's OK, but not very impressive to me. Hate the load times, but it's not really that big of a deal My two favorite games so far are Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (fun and somewhat humorous)., and currently my most played game is Super Stardust Delta. It was my most anticipated launch title. It doesn't look like much, but it's very addictive. Right now I'm waiting on Gravity Rush, 999 sequel, price drops for Rayman Origins and Army Corps of Hell, Little King's Story sequel, and some of the interesting looking download-only games. Not sure about Escape Plan. Looks pretty neat, but hearing a lot of mixed reactions. Might get it anyway.

I really like the PSV but unlike the PSP I am going to wait for a revision or 2 years. I have a lot of games to work through anyway. Will be a while, UNLESS

  1. PS3 and PSV games are bundled digitally, say LBP2 LPB Vita, OR make games that can play on both.
  2. ALL PSN games can be played on the PSV at no extra charge or very little additional cost.
  3. ALL PS2 HD updates become PSN games that can be played on PSV at little or no extra charge. (maybe PSN+)
  4. All Top scoring PSP, PS1 and PS2 games have a way to turn in the games inorder to get it added to my PSN account.
  5. Many older Arcade, PC, Sega, TG16, Neogeo... games come to PSN and can download to the PSV for cheap.

If just some of this happens then I would reconsider. I know not all of this will happen as Sony wants to sell new games so it can make more money than on older games selling at a discount undercutting more new games. Still, Later on when the PSV could cut its price Sony could make more money by having a huge library of games instead at a very low price, making more money selling the PSV for a profit. For Me I would rather pay for the PSV than an Ipod.

Regards those who think the games so far have been lacklustre or that there are no must have games I have to whole heatedly disagree. Of course it is your opinion and I respect that but there are quite a few great games and definitely a few must haves. This has been in my opinion the best launch line up in a very long time if not ever.

I really would wait if I was you. It's selling like crap so there's bound to be a price cut. It was good for a few weeks while I had Uncharted to play but since then it's just been collecting dust and I'm thinking of buying some PSP games just to get use out of it. Also Unit 13 looks alright.

Being in College, and rolling into my new Quarter, it looks like I'll have probably about 4 hours a week free, absolutely free and I need something to keep me busy. I really want it to be the Vita, but I am so scared of taking the chance.

I was in your shoes about a month ago, maybe a little longer. I actually hated the idea of owning it, I thought it looked dumb, but was very impressed. I love the Vita, In my opinion I think it is better than the 3DS (which I also own) I think the fact that I did not own a PSP made the purchase better. I had played the PSP at a friends house I thought it was a shoddy system, nothing to write home about. I bought shinobido(im a sucker for stealth genre), I like it enough, I also downloaded plants vs. zombies (a great game) and escape plan (very dull but shows whatvita can do physically) All-in-all Im gald I made the purchase and hope you like it if you decide too. Hope this helps...

All PSP games work on the vita, BUT some such as MHFU (monster hunter freedom unite) were unavaliable on the Psn store ((as of a week ago)EU PSN), BUT you could still download them via your download them via your download list if you had downloaded them previously on your PSP, PSP GO or PS3, BUT some PSP games such as Resistance retribution you couldn't redownload via the download list because they were on the Vita PSN store but sony wanted you to pay for it again. TO answer your question yes, but its complicated.

If they want the vita to survive, they gotta make it easy. I mean, I'm pissed off about everything on my device and the list is long: limited games, gotta transfer every files manually one by one (or it goes to sleep and cancels the transfer in the middle). The sound is not loud enough to listen to music or movies in a public transport (and I use an amp on top). The movies from the PSN aren't subtitled. There's no RPG coming soon for the device. It crashes if I enable google connectivity and it's not connected to a network. There haven't been a single update for the device o/s after the initial one and there are many unfixed bugs in the GUI which should be fixed a month after the release of the device.

and I forgot, the worst of all, the device is not USB 3.0. which means transfering the files is really slow and it doesn't charge while doing it... and there's no software to transfer files through wi-fi.

Actually the slow transfer speed is cause of sony's software for pc. If it was like psp no software needed transfer speeds would probably be the same or better even. Psp is usb2 and I was able to transfer files to it faster than vita.

Well it depends on size, I can do 2 or 3 episodes at a time or only one movie, but not more than that, it will disconnect after a while.
