Is this a wise choice?? Is there any way for me to get caught up on the storyline witout playing the first 2?? Im just gonna be too tied up with mass effect 2 and dragon age i just wont have no time for them. What would you suggest?? would me not playing the previous installments take away any more bang than the game would already deliver??

I would say then why get it at launch? Take your time enjoy your gaming and catch up accordingly. There is no rule that you ABSOLUTLY HAVE TO BUY X GAME ON RELEASE. If you think with that mentality thats just idiotic. Take your time, buy the Double Pack when your ready, and then get God of War 3.

i was still blown away by the E3 demo of GOW3 i think you'll be fine if you bought the Collection on PS3 or the originals on PS2.

i think you would be bbetter off playing the first 2 games before going for the third game so i agree with some of the above posters. i suggest you wait till you have the time to buy and play the collection then youll be able to more fully enjoy GOW3 afterwards.

If you don't want to play them then don't, but you'd be missing out. Those two games are better then a lot of stuff that's out now. Hell, I'm playing through them a second time just to get read for the third game.

if you skip the !st oneit wont be such a big deal, but 2 has a major cliff hanger ending and missing that would definately take away from the experience if you ask me. plus the games arent too long about 10-12 hours for each and they're superior to most games on the PS3 so I'd definately say you should get them.

You could always go on wikipedia and read the summary of the stories and use youtube forthe cutscenes

There is also no rule that says you have to play every game in the series just to enjoy the newest iteration, especially if you would be "suffering" through them just to get to the newest release.

Sorry, I know that post came off as rude, I just wanted to point out another view.

Dude, get the collection and play them both! They're so amazing - even today - and are pretty vital to see Kratos's tragic backstory and how he becomes a god. They're only about 10 hours each, so it wouldn't take you that long. I seriously DO NOT recommend missing those games. I promise, after you play GOW3 you will want to go back and play them anyway. Might as well go ahead and play them in order.
