Is there a specific one that I should keep in mind? I already have an hdd that I use to store backup files for my computer. Does any hdd from Amazon qualify for use to increase my ps3's GB capacity?

You can use anything you want, but will have to format it to FAT32.

Why don't you buy a bigger internal hard drive for your PS3-something like a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320GB or 500Gb(both available from Amazon),fit it in and use the hard drive you take out of your PS3 for back up-all you need is a sata enclosure to put it in-which is easy to do and away you go.

you should just buy a bigger HDD to put in your PS3 and buy an enclosure for the one you take out.

I just looked at some products on Amazon... are you sure those are supposed to be for the PS3? They look like compact discs... Well, once my friend returns from his travels, I can ask him for help on how to manually remove the hdd from the ps3 without damaging it.
