Cat 6 is for VERY long distances, like hundred of feet.

Cat5 will do fine for most, but paying a little extra for Cat5E or Cat6 is good for when everything goes gigabit.

CAT5 is designed for 10/100 Mbit CAT6 (and CAT5E) are designed for 10/100/1000 MBit.

Yay! A few times I mentioned "Cat5" and I always got a "HUH?!" LOL

But yeah. I've only got a CAT5 right now. I even have a cross CAT5 too (which I have no use for at the moment)

I recommend getting CAT5E... It's kind of pointless for CAT5. CAT6 is mainly used for servers and those kind of big networks.
