actually, my router (netgear) requires i not broadcast my ssid to work with the ps3, but the pc's don't like that setting so i am thinking about getting another router, which one should i get for the ps3 that won't require any setting changes? (i have to do wireless, my house isn't hard-wired upstairs)

Ever since I installed the 1.80 update I've had this problem. I'm using a wireless router(signal strenght 85%) , I have the disabled the media function. I'm also able to connect to the internet and access folding home. I just can't sign on to the network.

is it giving you the "you have been disconnected from the access point" message? if so, mine did the same thing until i changed my wireless router to not broadcast the ssid

When starting a game, after the Playstation 3 screen disappears just before the game loads I get a static screen and sound for 1-2sec befoe the game begins. It also happens right befor the main menu when I quit a game. Any thoughts.....Â
why is it that when you play a ps2 game, after 'playstation 2' comes up on the screen, the controller turns off. it is damned annoying coz a lot of my focus is still on ps2 games. i think sony should address this is the next software update, as it is damned annoying. WHY, i ask you, WHYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

Hey I have a Plantronics 590A headset and I got it to work on my PS3 for voice chat, but I was wondering is it possible to get all the sound from the game to come through my headphones, thx any feedback would be greatly appreciated
if u want to play ps3 on a monitor u must use HDMI to DVI cable, but how do u get the sound?keymaster7
hook up your A/V cables as well as your HDMI, go to sound settings and select the audio to be output through the A/V cables. Optionaly you can use an optical cable.

Your TV is switching resolutions. This is normal, when TV switches from whatever you happen to have the TV set to (1080p) to the game setting (720p) it flickers as it adjust the resolution. Numbers used are examples. There is also some HDCP going on but I don't believe this causes the brief flick on and off.

What does NAT Type mean?
I have type 2
NAT stands for Network Address Translation it is used as a way to mask your IP address from most people on the internet. For isntance your ISP may give you the IP address of 48.102.67.8 (purely made up) with NAT running your router will translate it to (using a linksys router) 192.168.1.X (x being the last number assigned to your online devices). Now because NAT masks the IP address with a generic one constant communicating with a server may cause problems. NAT1 is just basic translating and is not very secure, NAT 2 adds more security than NAT 1, NAT 3 provides additional security.

You a correct. I just switched my TV's native resoultion to the same as the PS3 and its fixed. Thanks for the help, its been buggin the crap out of me.
