I knew they'd be no story mode going in, but what's up with the lack of new/more maps? I mean I see alot of games that came out after this one and there is a ton of stuff to download for them in the PSN store. I stopped playing this game like 5 or 6 months ago, and won't touch it til something new comes out. They really dropped the ball on this one support wise.

Well for right now /6 is trying to patch up the game to have all of its features first. The game still has no support for Clan Ladder Matches of Tournaments and Calenders. Which were promised in the game manual. After that we will probably get a few new maps.

And personally I don't like new games that come out and have downloadable content immediately (minus music and trivia games dlc). Like Modern Wardare 2 announcing dlc before its even realesed! That's like selling full retail price for an incomplete game and paying more to get the rest of it.

Exactly! It seems like some games release downloadable content within a week or two of release. When its that quick, you know they were finished and could have put them on the disc, they just wanted to get more money out of us.

I can agree with you guys on that but with a game like this that is based on maps, we should have more by now. It's almost a year already.

That's why saying you wish that Harmonix was still making Guitar Hero games rather than creating its spiritual successor...

I agree that Zipper should have continued to make SOCOM games because it is a HUGE franchise with brand name recognition. I can understand why Sony would want Zipper to develop a new IP though...Slant Six and Zipper seem to have a relationship similar to Infinity Ward and Treyarch in that they share the franchise and alternate game releases.

It seems as though Infinity Ward is off doing its own thing now though...and I would expect Zipper to be doing the same. It's clear Zipper is the leader and Slant Six is the follower. Slant Six has done a horrible job with supporting SOCOM Confrontation because they are busy making PSP games...they're running the franchise into the ground. At on the PS3 they are...the PSP games are actually pretty good.

MAG is the spiritual successor to SOCOM. Don't be surprised to see Zipper start making the next SOCOM game about 6 months to a year after MAG is released. They'll be supporting MAG for a while after release, but I can't imagine Sony would give Slant Six the SOCOM franchise...less they're trying to kill it off and ruin its reputation....

The concept of MAG is awesome, and unique, but it will never work. First of all, imagine 256 people in a game. A lot of them are going to leave because I doubt they're short battles, and theres always going to be people leaving because they're losing/bored/have to go. Then you have to take orders from someone just to level faster - geez, that's going to work isn't it. [/sarcasm]. All people are gonna do is do there own thing, and maybe you'll get a few people working together, but its split into 8 squads so those few people are gonna be spread. Then you got lag - even if the entire room has good internet, one guy can screw it over. And last but not least - Zipper should be making SOCOM games.

Yeah but whole SOCOM thing has left a bad taste in alot of fans mouths. I've been playing SOCOM since the very first one on the PS2. Most would agree that SOCOM 2 was the best in the series. Slant 6 if you're reading this go back to Zippers formula in SOCOM 2. Bring back those maps with these graphic, simple enough.

That's nonsense because over time, people who want to play tactically will continue to play while those who choose to fly solo will probably die a lot, quit, and go play MW2 instead. I would envision this game to have dedicated servers like Warhawk. I am absolutely sure Zipper and Sony thought about the LAG issue while developing the game. I love the idea of a leader. I expect this to a hardcore tactical game. I will still wait for reviews, but I'm getting more and more hopeful about this game. I want a game that's different from what's out now. This looks like it could be what I'm looking for.

Oh yeah, I definitely agree with you on that. I was just saying games (LoTR: Conquest for example) shouldn't release downloadable content within a week or two. You know the company is just being cheap when they do that.
