....to play the tunes you have loaded on your PS3 in game, like the 360 does. That was one of my only initial disapointments when purchasing the system and it still remains something I really would like to see done. Nothing like running through a CoD multiplayer game to Master of Puppets, come on Sony!

Man, what state do you live in? You previous post in the Resistance 2 thread sounded like something my friend would say, and his name is Rob...

Something like 0.1% of games support it. I'd like to see Sony get the cross-game voice chat done first, and then make the custom soundtracks mandatory.

Say what? Ive got about 20 games and not one of them will allow it. I dont understand (not saying I dont believe) how it would play for some but not others, I would assume you can either do it or you cant. What are some games that are capable of this?

The issue here is that Microsoft has a patent on the console playing the music over the game so to get around the patent, each game has to have it coded into the game to grab the music from the hdd which takes up RAM, RAM that most game developers don't want to give up. Anyway, a list of games that I know allow you to play your own music include: Warhawk, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Burnout: Paradise, High Velocity Bowling, Pixeljunk Eden, Super Stardust HD, MLB the Show 08, and NCAA 09 and i think i'm missing a few as well.

Im not buying that patent B.S. There are always ways around patents. Just call it something different and change a few things, But this is mandatory, that technology to universal chat and listen to music while playing games is what 6 years old now?

Some games have it, most don't.

Killzone 2 has it for online-multiplayer, how they gave up RAM to use it, and make it still look like it does, is absolutely beyond me.

And really, when it comes down to it, that's all you're gonna be playing for a LONG time.

Ive seen others complain of this, maybe Sony will hear the cries. I personally never thought about it until reading it here. Would be a nice option I suppose.

The ingame XMB etc really need stabilizing and improving before anything like cross game voice chat is introduced.

I don't care about in-game music, i have my iPod connected to my stereo system. What i would like to see is more visualizations for music playback, online radio like what they have on the PSP, and a wireless strength indicator during in-game xmb.

I've read the patent (someone posted it a while back) and "just call it something different and change a few things" isn't really applicable here. Sony has changed the thing it needed to change. It's developer driven instead of console driven. That's what gets it around the patent. The only thing Sony can do from here on out is make it manditory like trophies, but then you're taking RAM away from developers who want to use that towards game performance. Bad idea if you ask me. Then again, I only use the feature for HVB and MC and would not using it in any other game that I own.
