I actually tried this once while I was in college. While it "technically" worked (I did end up getting a Wii), it was by NO means free. First off, a lot of those "free trial" offers don't exactly make it easy to cancel. Read the fine print, and after you still jump through all of their corporate BS you probably still *will* get billed even after you "cancel" your "free trial". This means more phone calls, more hours on hold, and more filing credit disputes. Then there's all the wasted time spent trying to convince 5-10 OTHER people that this isn't a scam.
Long story short, nothing in life is free. You get what you pay for. I spent weeks worth of time and energy trying to get this Wii for free. Not to mention every now and again I still get a solicitor phone call which I'm pretty sure got my number through one of these offers. Now that I'm out of college, I can get one on one day's worth of wages. Just go out and get one the old fashioned way-with money you earn from a real job. If you can't afford one now, wait until you can. Trust me, you'll be happier you did.
