If I got my PS3 80GB version in Hong Kong, can I play PS3 games from US and Can?

because there's not much US games here in Hong Kong and I wouldn't understand a single squat if they speak in Japanese.

i know Hk speak cantonese .i mean the games they sell here are japanese .

and i will have no clue what on earth they are saying if it's a RPG game ....

I'm from Croatia (you probably never heard for that country) and playing US COD4 on European PS3

But I had to create US account in order to download map pack form US store. That map pack would not work if it is not downloaded from the same country as the game.
