i kno this has been posted a lot, i know it's annoying and i did some research but i'm still not sure.

I got the orig 60gb, obviously warranty expired, and i replace my harddrive a while ago for a 320. what can i do besides send it to sony... if that. Can trade it in to gamestop toward a new one or is it completely useless? plus my game is stuck in there and i have my information like credit card and all that on account, whats the deal with that?

thanx :)

well i havnt experienced the YLOD before, but im pretty sure if it does happen you can edit your credit card details on the sony website, because you can log into your psn from there.

I think he's secretly laughing at your problems, and grateful he has a working PS3. Anyways, you can edit your info online from a PC. Also, as long as your warranty sticker is fine etc you can send it in to Sony and pay the $150 to repair it. Sad that they charge that much but there's nothing else you can do..UNLESS you sell it on Ebay as not working..but you'll probably be better off paying Sony to repair it, OR look on Ebay for people that repair PS3's for dirt cheap.

Ok well here is the best advice I can give you. You can try and get your game out by: Flip the switch off at the back of the console, then while having your finger on the eject button flip the switch back on. Hopefully that will work. To Fix: You can send it to Sony and either pay 120 for a refurbished slim or pay 170 to fix your 60GB BC model. When you send it to Sony make sure you put the old HDD back in. Do not send your 320gig HDD. You can also try to reflow your PS3 yourself (be very very very careful with your warranty sticker so you can put it back on). There are many guides online and you will need a heat gun for this to work. This may allow you to fix your PS3 or at least get it to power on so you can get your disc out. Did you have anymore Q's?

Also, gamestop will take a broken console but you will get very very little for it. By sending it to Sony you will hopefully get your own 60GB console back...but I don't know. I hope you backed up your data regularly. You will also get a 3 month warranty with the fixed PS3 from Sony.

If you get the YLOD call Sony and they will send you a box with some forms you have to fill out. If you dont have warranty it costs like $150 to repair. If you have a game stuck they will take it out and send it back with the console. Also they reformat the harddrive so anything you have saved that you didnt back up prior to the YLOD would be gone. Credit card information is related to your PSN so nothing would happen with that.
