In the fight as Liu Kang, or in the fight with Raiden? Either way just keep away from Shao Kahn as much as you can and hit him with projectile moves. When He throws the hammer, jump over it pr teleport and uppercut him. He will also try to taunt you. This will give you a chance to get free hits on the guy. If he charges at you then try to jump kick him.

Just for comparison, are the fights tougher to win in this game than in MK vs. DCU?

Well I beat him with Liu Kang, all I had to do really was wait for him to show off or taunt so I could use my Flying Dragon Kick, which I could do from a great distance. Other than that, I just had to jump over his large glowing spears and use my bone-crushing move at the right moment....

yeah seriously taht fight was ridiculous. i think i actually fought him like 100 times before i actually won. and thats with me trying to spam moves and stuff.

He is is without doubt cheap in terms of a final boss. I hate him so much.

He's even harder in arcade mode imo. But I've gotten used to his attack patterns. I can really own him with Ermac now.

This. Also he has just a very limited amount of moves he uses, it's pretty easy to discover how to block / evade them :S I suck at fighting games but I was able to beat him both times, using ranged in the first fight and using teleport in the second

took me an hour to beat him as raiden in story mode, while the MK story mode is the BEST story in a fighter ever Shao is the CHEAPEST boss in a fighter ever.blaqphantom

i heard he is over-powered.

what I did when you fight him as Raiden is teleport and uppercut....it worked like a charm lol...especially if you keep your distance he'll do a range attack which is the perfect time to do this lol

I beat him with Rayden and I only teleported used an uppercut and used an ehanced special instead of an X Ray Combo because 2 can hit him. The best time to use it is when he is taunting you.

hes not that hard actually easy! i rarely play fighting games, the last game i played is street figther in ps1 days, since my brother is having trouble defeating shao kan i try to play mk9 for the first time, at first i ask my brother how to teleport, first try i lossed cause its hard to teleport using analog, but i defeat him in 2nd time! spam tele then upper cut, thats the only thing i do..
