The best thing I can suggest amigo is to just call up Sony and find out. I honestly have no right answer for you but I think it would make sense for them to just fix your 80 gb and send you your repaired 80 gb back. Good luck finding a better answer.

most likely the same model.. Also I recall they said they would start producing 80gb again.. I mean the mgs4 package has them.. or?.. wot, I'm confused. Though I like pie.

Unless you threw your ps3 down a train terminal, it got struck and got moshed into a gazilli.. (god damit, getting off topic again)..

Yes, you'll get the same.

Unless Sony isn't able to fix your PS3, you'll probably get the same one back that you sent in. Also, I doubt that Sony wouldn't manufacture some extra 20GB and 60GB PS3s, (for replacement purposes), just because they were discontinued - but again, that's just my thinking.

thnks good to know, that was worriying me....anyone knows the warranty time that i will have ???

im still deciding wich version to get... in the 80G im sure im really not going to use the PS2 BC, i asked about it in my previous post, because i currently have a PS2, so knowing THAT ( about the send to repair) , i can now decide if i should sell my PS2 ( i can get enough $$ here in Mexico :) for it ) and get the 80 with that extra cash(plus what i have saved up for it).....

or get the 40G one ( 100 bucks cheaper and use that $$ for games ) and keep my PS2 ( or even sell it and get more games )...
40Gigs HDD sounds good so i think i wouldnt have to upgrade soon, and 2 USB ports are more than enough.

what ya think ? :D

I'd advice you to get the 80gb one. I have this stange obsession on getting the best thing avalible for some reason. A 40 gb is fine too its really up to you. Also if you get the 80 gb trade in the motorstorm as quickly as possible.

You also have to consider whether the multimedia card readers, (SD cards, Compact Flash cards, Memory Stick readers), will influence your decision because the 40GB doesn't have those. I don't know about other people, but those card readers have made transfering media between my PC, my PS3, and my PSP a lot simpler and easier, and I actually use them when I didn't think I would.

Other than that, you have to first decide whether or not you will play your PS2 games once you get a PS3. Then try to figure out how much money you would get for your PS2 and PS2 controllers (etc) before you make a decision. Also, if you got the 40GB and your PS2 broke, then you'd have to spend more money to fix it or get a new one, while your PS3 will much more reliable and much less likely to have costly problems than your PS2 at this point.

Another thing is the timing - are you sure you want to get a PS3 right now, especially when the MGS4 bundle with an 80GB and a Dualshock 3 controller is coming in just about 2 months? After considering all of these things for yourself, I'm sure you will make the right decision about when to get a PS3 and which one to get. :) Good luck making your decision.

thnks man, well, since now that i know that if my 80G PS3 ever breaks, and can be replaced with the same exact model, i have decided that i will wait for the MGS4 80G Bundle and sell my PS2 ( here in Mexico i can sell it for a good price )
and get the best version available :)

2 more Months to be a 80G PS3 Own3r  !!!!
