I have LBP, and I love it. But, this game's longevity and basically value completely depends on its popularity and user created content. So far, and i know the botched launch didnt help... the sales figures aren't so great. Next week R2 and GeOW2 come out... and I fear that LBP might become forgotten as its launch didnt seem to gain too much hype.

And it's all sonys fault. I havent seen one ad on tv for this game, or anywhere else. The few ads I do see on gaming sites paint this game as a platformer for 6 year old kids,, with basically no mention of how big and great this game is.

I want this game to succeed more than a lot of people.. its one of the reasons I picked up a ps3 over the RROD machine so I really hope things turn around (im not too hopeful though)

i know this may sound like crying/complaining... but I'm getting the feeling Sony really doesnt care about their consoles sucess.. like it was just their vehicle to help win the HD DVD battle, and any future sales are just gravy

stop worrying about what is in the future and not set in stone, but enjoy what you have in front of you.

the one thing that LBP has over GOW2 is that it can appeal to both gamers and non gamers alike due to its desining creatability. if Nintendo can get the non gamers to come to games, why cant sony?

Where are your stats that the game isn't selling well? Yeah, the launch was a bit troublesome, but they launch games in October and November so that they're ready for the morning of December 25th...that's when things really kick into high gear.

I've seen ads, during prime time TV. They don't paint the game as childish in the least...and using Go! Team music makes it pretty appealing for hipsters.

And, just so you know, Sony is still hemmoraging money over the PS3. They're far from abandoning it, they're trying their best to make it a profitable machine. Games like LBP will do wonders to bring the PS3 into the black.

the user created levels made so far.... arent the greatest (after you sift through the 40 ones just for trophies). One day I'll get around to making a great level, it will take days tho

Sony is doing everything they possibly can for the game within reason.

  1. LBP headlining every playstation event pre-release
  2. lots of tv advertising - even pre-release
  3. bundles - giving the game more exposure to casuals
  4. got the beta out to a lot of fans
  5. pre-order promotions
  6. incorporating characters from other famous ps3 games to help the title gain some awareness

I wouldn't worry about the user-generated content , it will be massive. They will improve the server situation and MM will provide the game with new patches and additions for the good creators.

This is the type of game that will probably be bundled next holiday in NA , and they might even decide to pack it in with every system like Wii Sports further down the road.

Chill out.

as was said above, these games are relesased in OCt and Nov in time for Christmas, so when those peoplae get designing, then you can make a fair assessment.

EDIT - sorry about not quoting before, in case that caused confusion

I wouldnt really say this about any other game... but I really think Sony should have offered every PS3 user the beta for this game. Like an update that gives you the code, or just tells you its in PS store... its a game you need to play to understand (for those people that dont spend boat loads of time on gaming sites and already know).

Im chilled out dude, the servers were pretty good today, played with some nice chaps

I cant wait for someone to make a shadow moses level... i know it could be done, and very well. I hope theres some kinda feature where if you're "seen" you die or something, to make it require stealth. I realize this doesnt have much to do with your quote, but your sig tipped me off.

I just wish they allowed for custom music

Just talks about why everything was made for fun basically and showing a group of sackboys running through a level. It was alright.

Yea my guess too would be LBP will be forgotten quickly, I hate to say it but it's one of those ICO type of games, that's so good it fails. Just wait and see, with Gears2 launching it'll probably be forgotten quickly.

It's almost as if Sony wants it to fail. Recall, delayed launch, busted servers, pathetic advertising...

Seriously, I haven't seen a single ad for the game, yet Fable 2 ones pop up every ten minutes or so on a lot of channels.

Chill out TC. There are many countries in Europe(mine included) that still don't have the game. But due to the Kratos sackboy promotion, I'm getting on day 1 instead of buying Fallout 3. Can't wait until this Wednesday!!!

As for you saying Sony doesn't care about the PS3, you're being paranoid. It's games like LBP that prove that Sony cares about everyone.
