I think Sony's main objective in creating this super computer was to cause to their opponents that which is happening to them at this very moment, and that is alienation from game developers to a certain extent. It seemed like a rather bold, relentless business move to come out with a system soley on their terms forcing game developers to conform to their hardware. I'm sure they though that being the dominating console last generation would continue without problems in this generation. I can only assume they were trying to squeeze and suck the life out of the xbox 360. I think microsoft was well aware of this and that's why they did some unprecedented moves of resilience to combat the mighty beast. However, it seems that both these companies live by the code of forcing formates upon consumers. SO in reality it was like to poker players at the same table playing the same game. Sony went all in and lost. Even if the sales increase, it will never be to the extent that they desired. They will never be the one and only Sony Playstation any longer. It has to share the market with a lion, microsoft.
