If your thinkin about removing the hard disk on your ps3, DO NOT i repeat DO NOT remove it. If you do, everything in your memory will be deleted. Trust me that happened to me luckily I barely had any data on the ps3.

I would suppose the memory follows the hard disk wherever it goes.

the manual clearly states that you should back your data up onto an external hard drive before removing the PS3's hdd. then you copy it onto the new one. make sure you know what your doing before you screw yourself. there's even a tutorial on Gamespot

I replaced mine a week ago, using the backup utility put on the PS3 FOR THIS PURPOSE. You are a genious if you think you can put a new HDD in and magically get all the data from the original to the new one without backin up.

If you own an expensive piece of electronics I highly recommend reading the owner's manual.

The response of a lot of guys is prolly, "psst, who needs the manual."

Come on, really?? Removing the hd makes you lose your saves?? Wow...the world is truly a better place with the likes of you, haha.

If people like the TC are the future, then we are pretty much screwed. Guys, we are doomed. Ohh and by the way, dont forget to insert the game disc to play it.

Data is stored on the HDD....

A new HDD won't magically fill in your data.
