I'll still get it. I read through the review and by the sounds of it, I've played games that were a lot worse. The gameplay got an 8/10 and that is what I am most concerned about.
so far on gamerankings, it's averaged out to a 90% and higher. the IGN should average the score out a bit lower, but for the most part, the 360, PC, and PS3 versions have been all getting high scores.
Never was getting this game .. the score made me :lol: since it's going to spark a fanboy war from hell ..

I knew I'd only be getting 1 superhero game this year. Infamous knocked my socks off, I don't need this. Besides I'll be getting Bioshock this week. :)

Anyway, I had this game pre-ordered and paid in full and could have picked it up today at 5, but once I found out the reviews were being held back until after the soft launch I knew something fishy was going on. Then I watched a few more trailers and what not and the more I saw the more I was.... Meh. Something told me it would bomb, so I never went to pick it up. IGN being the most credible reviewer so far i'm definitely assuming it deserves the bomb score of 7.5. I'm going tomorrow to cancel my pre-order and throw that cash on something else. Honestly, I'm still having too much fun with InFamous anyway. :P

Yep, i think inFamous could hurt this game a bit, (because everyone is compairing both) i'm also having too much fun playing inFamous right now ! i really want to go Platinum on this one.. so i think i'm not buying anything till September or something ! I read the complete review from IGN and it feels honest to me, a lot of problem like a thought it would have... It's Hulk 2...

Gamestop did a "soft-launch." I guess your local store wasn't participating? It released here around 5pm. I never went to get it, though. And I'm pretty sure I never will. lol
I probably wouldn't have got it regardless of the score. I just bought inFamous not too long ago. It looks pretty similar and I would rather just save my money for games a couple months from now.

I want to play it and am glad im getting it for free. I didnt think it would be better than inFamous but i was not going to say anything, just keep my mouth shut, but by the sounds of things i was right. ill know for myself in a few days
I'm very far into this game (i got it a little early) and it deserves higher (closer to what AU IGN gave it). I imagine the reviewer isn't a big fan of comics/superheros. Its a lot of fun and it would be a shame if people didn't play it because it only got 7.5, especially when people are so eager to play some of the garbage that gets high 9's or 10 and don't deserve them.
I honestly was expecting it to get a 6.5, or a 7.0 at best. Well, I'll see what GS will give it. And IGN seems to bash it pretty badly in the US review to the point that the score they gave it seems rather forgiving and unreflective of their overall gameplay enjoyment.
Read the review and its sums up most of what I had already suspected about the game. Funny, I had completely 180'd regarding Prototype and Infamous in around May: at first I was convinced Prototype would be more fun, and that Infamous would bomb. Fast-forward: I bought Infamous day 1 and I cannot wait for the inevitable sequel.....fantastic game. I will not be buying Prototype, nor will I bother to rent it. Since the beginning of the year, I've seen clip after clip of Prototype looking very much the same as it did 6 months before; meanwhile, Infamous, looked better and better each time. The last straw was me actually playing Infamous and seeing for myself that it was one of the most solid new franchises Sony has put out this gen, AND finding out that preliminary reviews of Prototype were prohibited. When that happens, just as in the movie industry, its usually a sign of trouble. I'm sorry but I just don't think Radical are experienced enough developers to handle a game this ambitious, AND multiplat to boot. They need to partner up with a heavy hitter who can give them the financial and technological backing to bring realization to their vision more effectively. Maybe they should go exclusive next time.
