I wonder if any review is actually gonna bother playing the game instead of ranting how someone who isn't a sci-fi warrior or modern military person is so out of place in this day and age (When in fact they aren't.) I also like how every review tries to belittle the game for having the attitude of a 12 year old. Would you rather have some 20-year old college guy who has 4 popped collars and can't get laid without alcohol, or some 40 year old thats lost all sense of humor and its super-depressed with life? Hey, anything is better than trying to be humorous like Cracked.com tries to be.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanggg.... -_- Gamespot gonna give this ish a 3. . Watch. . Specially since they gave Infamous a 7.5. . .Young_Charter*grabs popcorn and nachos* I can't wait for "teh dramaz" caused here when GS reviews it.:D
I don't expect it to be a perfect game by no means, but that review is terrible(like every other IGN review).
And even then, I have no idea why people would still want to get it. If I were a Duke Nukem fan, I would be absolutely pissed and be out for Gearbox's blood. The only thing is has going for it is nostalgia.

It really isn't suprising in the slightest.
I played the demo, then got the game last thursday, and actually thought that this game was gonna lose all it's interesting bits once the child within me had heard "Come get some" a few times.
Admittedly, I haven't finished it yet, I went started Infamous 2 instead, But I aint in any rush to get back to Duke Nukem. It just doesn't stand up against the build or gameplay quality of modern games.
Gearbox sold this game on "Duke's Back" and fair play to them, alot of us were excited for that. But they really needed to follow it up with a great game, not a bunch of nostalgic giggles that run out after the first hour!
[QUOTE="hanslacher54"]And even then, I have no idea why people would still want to get it. If I were a Duke Nukem fan, I would be absolutely pissed and be out for Gearbox's blood. Why? This is mostly 3D Realms' work. Gearbox just managed to get this hunk of vaporware out the door so that we can finally end this madness. I mean the game's been kicking around for over a decade and it's probably been in it's current state or design for at least 5 years. The only thing is has going for it is nostalgia.

There is no way that Duke Nukem could get a great review. 14 years in "development hell" means that Duke Nukem is a rental at best. If The game is genuninely broken.
Never expect a great storyline from a Duke Nukem game. Bad taste and iffy dialogue in 2011 days of extreme potitical correctness is not going to go over well.
Or maybe this game is not fun. So if the developers expected Duke Nukem to make it's money back after 14 years they were wrong. 5.5 rating by IGN may be warrented.
Researches prove that GAMES which take a veryyy long time to be made will fail so bad or at least can't fulfill the expectations. shahabzeldaexamples duke nukem forever and gt5
I think 5.5 is too generous that game is atrocious. I had a chance to play a few levels last week and everything that could go wrong did terrible graphics, screen tearing, severe texture pop in, horrible hit detection, terrible animation, poor sound design, terrible controls, besides Duke's one liners which garner a few chuckles voice acting sucks I could just go on and on. This game is going to sell a lot of copies just because of nostalgia's sake, but there are going to be a lot of dissapointed people.
I don't expect it to be a perfect game by no means, but that review is terrible(like every other IGN review).

IGN's review is no different from any other critics. This title was critically panned. I don't think it received one positive review.
First thing I want to say, is that all those people saying Fail to the King - Duke says that when he loses at the pinball game within the game - so you're not that clever.
Anyone who buys the game thinking they're getting an A game is setting themselves up for disappointment.
If anything, its on par with Postal 2 or Soldier of Fortune Payback - a guilty pleasure.
I think the people who buy and enjoy this game are going to be the older farts who actually played the original and want to revisit Duke - that's it.
Anyone who wasn't even alive when the original came out is going to think this game is a pile of crap and should move on to something else.
I wish the game was better but hey, it is what it is.
It would have been an ok game, if the developers did not add the driving and platforming sections into the game. I heard that the shooting parts of the game are actually old school fun except for the boss fights. It is dumb that the develpoers did not focus on shooting more. I do not know what the one liner complaints are all about. Everybody knew Duke was going to have stupid phrases that he repeated over and over again. The only problem is that it seems like the developers recycled a lot of the lines.
[QUOTE="QuebecSuperstar"]Cool, thanks for supporting poorly developed games so that developers can keep creating more crap. I didn't want more quality games anyways.Oh well. I'm going to forge my own opinion about it when I pick up my pre-ordered copy next week.

Your sarcasm hasn't gone unnoticed but unfortunately for you, I'd rather buy a poorly developed game than passing on it only because it got bad reviews. When it comes to opinions, I have the really weird tendency of developing my own whilst discarding everybody else's. Find it in your heart to forgive me!

If you discard everybody elses opinions about video games then why are you a member of a website that specialises in giving their own opinion of games? Nothing wrong with forming your own opinion but I think gamespots scores are bang on most of the time and a great indicator to whether a game is great or garbage.I like how some people are actually trying to defend this game and bash reviewers did you really expect a game that shoulsd have been out 14 years ago to be any good.
I rented it. I liked it. Not "go out and pay $60" liked, but if it were $20, I'd consider buying it. I listened to the podcast and some of the reasons they gave for rating it soo low was f'n stupid. Just because they like high brow humor and didn't like the gritty/dark jokes (the one example they gave specificly was abortion jokes IE: wack an alien in the strip club) doesn't mean that it won't appeal to others. Some people love Jim Norton jokes because they're gross (I'm one of them) but the people who don't shouldn't say he's one of the worste out there.
