I'm almost finished with Demon's Souls and never used the wiki or youtube, no strategy guide, and I have never summoned anyone. Just beat Maneater(easily took me 20 attempts) and Old Monk. I'm now stuck on Old Hero and then the next boss and that's it, I have slain almost every demon in the game with ZERO help from anyone. I did sell the game out of frustration three different times though before it finally clicked and I could figure it out on my own. It has easily taken me 150plus hrs to figure this entire game out on my own and complete it. The only reason I kept coming back to it is because the atmosphere and content is some ofmy favorite fantasy lore(Dragons, Dark magic, monsters, evil knights, etc.)Wow, it's easily the best game this Generation hands down and I can't wait to complete it entirely SOLO. Anyone else able to do this, play the entire game solo with no help whatsoever except what's offered in game?

I beat the first playthrough without anyone helping, it definitely took me quite a while, much of it filled with cursing and frustration. I did cheat though, I checked the wiki site to get strategies for a few of the bosses because they were handing me my ass far too many times.

Man even with all the stress this game deals you, you feel like a champ when you finally beat it, am i right?!

I beat the game three times without anyone's assistance... and with relative ease. Naturally, there were a few frustrating spots that slowed me down, but nothing I couldn't overcome after three or four attempts. As for the multiplayer mode, I only played it a few times, and always as a blue phantom to help people out--never for my own benefit.

I don't believe that for a second. There's no way in hell you could defeat some of the bosses like Maneater or Flamelurker or Penetrator Or Old Hero in three or four tries unless you cheated and either looked up a strat or a youtube vid. BS all the way bro.

Yea I have refused to rob my self of the pure experience. Tower Knight alone made me sell the game initailly. I will admit I was a noob to a RPG like this. Never played anything remotely like it in my life so that may explain why it was so hard for me. Just figuring out how to navigatethe menus, learningthe magic, miracles, etc took me quite a while. Also how to properly level my character up. My first character was all melee, I made it about halfway through before I quit.

The only thing about the game I really pride myself on is beating Maneater on my first try, alone. I had a much harder time with some of the other bosses.

lol @ Tc: You admit you never played games similar to this and you're suprised someone had a easier time than you? Sorry but the game is pretty much just a *remember the patterns*, it might be hard to remember them for the first time, but once you got it, it's pretty easy. Seriously, there are speed runs for the game that used a few hours to get through it. But hey, if you really need someone to tell you ow good you are: I totally respect you for your increbibleaccomplishment, your actions will be talked about even after your generation passed away from this planet. Your increbible skill should never be forgotten. I bow down to you, master of all masters and hope to come close to your prefection one day

No, no, no. You've misinterpreted the "anyone's assistance" point. But then again, that's my fault because I answered your question without reading your entire post. I was strictly speaking of multiplayer. I definitely needed a guide at certain points of the game, but no so much for boss battles, which, aside from the maneater and the old king battles, I didn't find too challenging, but for item/armor locations, soul farming locations, world/character tendencies, and the general sequence at which I should play the game (i.e 1-1 then 1-2, then 4-1, etc.). The only tips I've ever received on bosses were about fighting that spider from a distance, freeing biorr to help fight the penetrator, and the arrow trick for taking down the first maneater. However, on NG+ I challenged myself to fight those bosses without the said strategies. Lurker, Old Hero, etc. only took me a few attempts to take out, as their patterns and weaknesses were easy to pin-point. But of course, if me using a guide for anything disqualifies me from beating the game solo, so be it. I initially just meant that I didn't get any assistance from in-game players.

EDIT: I meant False King, not Old King.

If you get your rolls down, its a pretty simple game, some guy beat King Allant with 1 soul level, just by rolling and healing. He beat the whole game with 1 soul level.

I never summoned help but I went to the DS Wiki to see which NPC's to save/kill, item locations and one of two Demon strategies. My highlight was making Flamelurker cry like a *insert expletive* on my first try. I look forward to going into Dark Souls totally alone, no Wiki and no help. That's my intention which I have no realistic chance of actually sticking to.

Nah. I beat the entire game without any help or summouning anyone too and I rarely had any troubles with the bosses, Flamelurker being the only exception. He killed me around 10 times, but from there I was fine. Maneater killed me twice, Old Hero, the Monk, Penetrator, and Old King Allant all took me one try. Once I got used to my Hunter and her spear+block then roll technique most of the bosses were huge pushovers.
