These threads are so old now. This is a completely ridiculous complaint, because if you know anything about Resident Evil you'd know that standing and shooting is pretty much part of what makes it a survival game. If ammo fell from the sky and you could run about and shoot everything with ease it wouldn't be a horror game, just a really easy action game with zombies.

Everyone is intitled to their own opinion, but it seems people are hating on re5 for reasons we all known for a while, the controlling and core gameplay sticks to re4. so every ? is could the controlling be any better when the real question should be can it be different. and your answer should be no, it is re5 not gears or cod4, love re5 folr what it is, dont hate for what its not

I agree. Someone like Chris Redfield with his background in experience with this stuff would be a little quicker with his gun. There should be no excuse with not being able to walk and point your gun this day in age. It made sense back in the day with the fixed camera angles but not now. If people really think its because its a survival horror aspect of the game and it adds thrills is just stupid. Its more frustrating then exciting.

When I play as a engineer who gets sent to the Ishamura to fix it and it turns out its infested with people who were turned into creatures that kill you on site from all over. And he uses a lot of engineering tools as weapons... and he is capable of walking and shooting it can still be really scary.

I just feel like the developers were just lazy. After playing the demo I just felt like the AI was just horrible. I'm just going to stop because im ranting now. However I am still going to pick up the game to finish the T-virus story and to find out what happened. Don't get me wrong. Resident Evil is still awesome. I just think its time for a rehaul in the way the game is played. They could seriously do a lot better with the games nowadays.

I understand that you want to find out how the story ends, (or probably just continues because there will inevitably by another RE) but why support a company who is being "lazy" and shipping out an inferior product? Just read up on the story if you're interested, but don't support companies if you think their game is not up to snuff. That's why companies now adays are shipping out yearly installments of the same game or games with a bunch of bugs all the time- they know they can get away with it because people will buy it anyway.

I haven't played the demo yet, so I can't give my own input, but I've had a bad feeling about this game for quite a while.

I played the demo like 9 times and I can't wait for the full game! I love it. I also have played every resident evil from the original on the PS1... so maybe I'm biased, but I think the developers made a lot of subtle improvements and when you actually get your hands on the full game (not just two random demo levels) I think the story will suck you in immediately. The controls seem very intuitive after a few minutes of playing.
This game will own... trust.

I was thinking the same thing. For him to be an re fan and yet not like this control scheme is kinda funny. For someone that was never really a huge re fan like me the controls are a bit wonky at first. But you get used to it eventually. I hated teh demo at first but i'm having alot more fun with it after subsequent playthroughs.

Your welcome, I mean the re games have always been about running away to a safe distance to have time to line up your shots. It's not supposed to be call of duty. But I think with the ammount of enemies on screen at a time this can be kinda confusing sometimes.

Setting aside the controls and lack of movement while aiming, the demo was dissapointing. I have a feeling we wouldn't be discussing problems if it had stayed exclusive cause it would have been better.

I agree...I played RE4 too late in it's time and when I did, I hated the controls!! When I heard RE5 would have the same controls as RE4, I knew I wouldn't like the game...after playing the demo, it confirmed my feelings...I won't be buying that game...

I just remebered, RE4 was stand and shoot. Regardless, it would be nice if there was move and shoot as well as fast turning, that would solve a chunk for this game. (RE5)

I didn't like the overall look of the game. I hate the lighting where everything is bright not to mention that grainy filter they put over the cutscenes. As far as the controls go I didn't like those either as well as the controls from re4. The way you turn around makes me dizzy, literally:?

I like the controls but I think they could be better. I think a MGS4 type of aiming and moving at the same time could work. It would still keep it 'clumsy' (as it should be) and at the same time flexible.

It's logically true to be able to run or walk while shooting and other games do have that feature. But you have to realise it's equally logical to stand and shoot. If you've ever seen policemen shoot or hunters or whomever, they all stand still to maximise accuracy.

So someone like Chris Redfield might stop and take specific aim to blow out some zombie brains. Also the games like Dead Space that allow you to move don't necessarily record accurately how often you would actually be missing your target in a real life situation.

If you were a big RE fan you wouldn't have a problem with it because from what I remember all of the Resident Evil games were like that and I think standing still adds to the intensity and really shows if you can aim under pressure.

ur stupid..... u really are. the games wouldnt be hardly difficult at all if you could move while shooting. A. it gives the game a sence of suspence and rushes you to make the shot and actually hit the person before you die. so im assuming you think re4 is gay cause its relativly the same,... and deadspace is amazing because you can move and shoot. well in deadspace,... the game really isnt all that chalenging compared to re4 in the hardest difficulties, and in deadspace you cant move that fast anyways so its not really that big a dif. and in re5 theres things u dont do in deadspace. co-op, realistic guns, etc... the point is, if it really was that important, they would have added it in, dont u think?????? its not that big of a game, and it certainly doesnt kill the game (mabee redfield but not the game haha)truthbetoldalex

Your a big RE fan but you ask why you cant move while shooting. It is suspencefull and more realistic because no one is a good shooter while running unless your a video game character.

Are you seriously trying to argue that there are NO hard games that you have the ability to walk/run and shoot at the same time?

Other companies have figured out a way how to make a game difficult with the ability to move while shooting... I'm not even that upset about not being able to move while shooting, but for tearing into someone the way you did, you better think a little more next time...

Why are you in the ps3 forums calling a ps3 owner a ps3 fanboy:| The benefits of exclusivity may not be a factor for RE5 but if you don't think it makes a difference have a look at mgs4(game of the year) or KZ2.

If you prefer negative talk about the ps3 you can head over to system wars for that.

TC.....

You say you are a RE fan, but you complain on RE5's controls. You should know by now that RE4 started with those controls that you are suddenly complaining about..... If you say RE5 is bad, then that would also imply to RE4.

RE fan? nah you sound very suspect.

Seconded. And that kind of whining / opinion belongs to a blog.

I thought the Resi5 demo was ACE, I really enjoyed it, keep in mind I started playing Resi when Resi4 was released and Im glad that they for the majority kept the same controls and feel. I like the fact that you cant run and gun and the whole inventory system is now ingame, this builds tension when playing. The demo was made even beter with co-op, 1st day buy for me :D

I like RE 5 and it's tougher than previous REs so people are hating on it and the first RE to make it to an Xbox is a bad RE. They should've kept it off Xbox and it would be better I'll bet. Making it for the 360 has cursed it.

I was hyped for RE5 so much i loved number 4 but after playing the demo my hype has dropped alot something does not feel right!!! Chris feels heavy and there is to many enemy's on screen to enjoy the style of game RE is compared to number 4 i am seriously worried about this title right now :(

i dont hate capcom or anything , im a big fan of the game realy big but this game i have to say it sucks , i mean u have to stand still in order to shoot wtf !! u cant shoot while walking ! ? , and whats with heavy character control when u run , here is an advice for all RE fans :

if you have played DEAD SPACE noway you will like RESIDENT EVIL 5 . coz its simple DS >>>>>> RE5

so if u have dead space my advice is just to pass on resident evil coz it will not live up to the standards of dead space

kratos_q80

Translation: "Hi I don't have a single clue about the Resident Evil series, I just played a lot of fps and assumed RE5 is like a fps. I'm pretending to be a RE fan to make my post seem credible, even if I didn't know in all RE games you shoot while standing still."

FAIL

What the hell is up with the damn camera being right on Chris' back all the time? They should have learned from MGS4 to only zoom in when he's aiming.I damn near threw up because the camera was making me dizzy.Since RE is an action game now they need to change that damn camera, because enemies get caught up in your blind spot and it's hard to tell where you are going because you can't see your surroundings (which look the same). A tank? Chris is more like a fortress. How the hell is the axe guy faster than you are?Sheva was annoying because she kept getting grabbed.Where the hell is the regular melee attack.Only being able to melee when the enemy is immobilized is gay.Rolling laughing at the MK uppercut, what the heck is that? Damn Chris moves like a Gundam. If they were going to turn it into a action game then it needs to control like an action game. Horror my ***,I was more humored at how ridiculous the game was than terrorfied. The color palette is too washed as well and it's hard to navigate around the map. Edit/Delete Message
These threads are so old now. This is a completely ridiculous complaint, because if you know anything about Resident Evil you'd know that standing and shooting is pretty much part of what makes it a survival game. If ammo fell from the sky and you could run about and shoot everything with ease it wouldn't be a horror game, just a really easy action game with zombies.Tikicobra
If youy knew anything, then you would know that RE5 is not survival horror.Seriously, when will you people realize that it's an action game now.So your argument is pointless and RE5 just has outdated gameplay. So it is an action game with zombies, their is nor survival or horror factor whatsoever.

I think we can all agree that while Resident Evil 5 is no RE4, it is still a good game. I predict about an 8 out of 10 from Gamespot for RE5.
