Okay, after much thought I have decided to go with the PS3 but I have some problems, 1. I live in the UK so I have to pay more for a worse console compared to the US model and 2. When I should buy it... NOWI dont mind that I wont be able to play most of my PS2 and PS1 games that I still have, I would end up just trading them to get money off the console itself.
But does anyone know if Guitar Hero 1, 2 and Rocks the 80's work on the PS3 and where do you (If you can) plug in the SG controller?, because i dont want to get rid of that. NOT SURE AS I DONT HAVE GH BUT MY COUSIN DOES AND HE SAYS HE PLAYS IT
Also, should I wait till christmas to get one hoping that there is a price drop or bundle, or even the 80GB model for the UK. Or buy one now because I can get a 60GB model with 3 games (I would get Virtua Fighter 5, Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of man), an extra controller and a HDMI cable for £425 (about $860, wait... you can get them for how much!?). GET IT NOW
Other question are;
Can you play online? YES AND FOR FREE
Can you talk online, using a headset, I have a Logitech Precision gaming headset, would this work or is it an official one like the xbox 360?YES YOU CAN TALK ONLINE AND THAT HEADSET SHOULD WORK FINE, IS IT BLUETOOTH? ALL BLUETOOTH SETS WORK
What games should I think about buying with it
RAINBOW 6, RESISTANCE, NGS, OBLIVION, WARHAWK (AUG. 28TH)
Thanks Gamespot usersexcileEVK
i don't know if you can use headsets, but if you want to get a PS3 this year you should get the 60GB model because it has full backwards capabilities. The 80GB only supports 75% of PS2/PS1 games.
The online experience right now is nothing like XBL, but Sony is releasing a whole new service called Home (coming soon). But I am able to get connected to players at all times of the day using the Sony Network. (i like to play Fight Night R3 at 2am).
In order to get the Guitar Hero controller to work you will need to get an adapter because the PS3 does not natively connect to the old controllers.
there are some controller adapters, so I think you csn plsy GH
Buy it now
you can game online
you can talk as well, any headset with a usb port or bluetooth can work eith the PS3
resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, and Ratchet and Clank
- I would wait a few months to see if Sony drops the price first. Hold out as long as you can.
- I don't think that headset will work. I think it has to be a usb headset and compatible with the ps3 itself. Sony doesn't have an official headset for the ps3 but third party companies release usb headsets that work with the system. Most bluetooth headsets will also work if you have one of those. I use my old Socom headset that I had from the ps2.
- Yes there is online and voice chat in a lot of games and its FREE , but the service is not as feature rich as xbox live yet.
That is all I have for you.

Yes I believe the guitar hero games will work without a problem and if you buy a ps2 controller adaptor your special controllers will work as well. You can get one online for $ 15 USD, I did and it works fine. Should n't be more than 10 pounds for you, though i'm not sure check amazon for it. I would say get the 60gb version now because the 80gb is nothing special even if it does come to the uk, just 20 more gb and motorstorm free, but you can probably get motorstorm on the cheap nowadays. You can always upgrade your hdd later, for cheap, and with a lot more space. As for a price drop or bundles, sony hasn't really mentioned anything for any region around christmas. A lot of people are just presuming that once the 60gb are gone from the us at least, they will lower the price to $499 usd, so i would still say just get the 60gb now. Yes you can play online and unlike xbl it's free. In terms of features, it's evolving and has all the basic online features such as voice, video and text chat as well as reliable server,s the ability to makes friends and clans, send photos such like that. As more updates from sony come, more features will arrive, but considering it's free it's really a great service. Yes you can talk online with a headset and if the one you have is usb or bluetooth, you should be set, you can use pretty much any brand of accesories, you dont have to buy the sony ones. Finally I would reccomend either ninja gaiden sigma or rainbow six vegas, both are great games, vegas has a good online following. Hope I could help.

This question has been lingering in my mind, I have a USB WI-FI connector as I have a wireless connection does that mean that I can definitely get on the PS network?mccloskey-14
if you get/have the 60GB you dont need the USB wifi connector cuz it already has wifi buit in to the system
if you have the 20GB it migh work
Since he lives in the UK, the 60 GB use software emulation as well, just like the new 80 GBi don't know if you can use headsets, but if you want to get a PS3 this year you should get the 60GB model because it has full backwards capabilities. The 80GB only supports 75% of PS2/PS1 games.

The software emulation is fine. You'll probably be able to play all of your PS2 and PS games, unless you own some really obscure titles.
I bet Europe will get a price cut pretty soon. Wait a couple months until they announce a price cut.
Unless you buy a special adapter (which doesn't work very well), you cannot play Guitar Hero on the PS3, unless you use a normal controller (which kind of ruins the experience) or the GH3 controller when it comes out.
As for your last questions:
1. Yes, though, at the moment, XBL is better.
2. You can use any USB or Bluetooth headset.
3. The must haves are Resistance and Oblivion.

Seeing as the UK system only offers software emulation to begin with, it probably shouldn't matter when you buy the system, unless you are hoping on the 80 GB version to reach the UK or a price drop.
All of the Guitar Hero games currently do not work with the PS3 because of the special controller used for the games. However, this could be a possibility with a firmware update.
Yes, you can play online, but the service is not exactly like Xbox Live in features.
Yes, you can talk online using a bluetooth or USB headset. There are no official headsets yet for the PS3.
I don't want to issue gaming advice, as I play my system primarily for sports games.
