I'm buying a PS3 soon, but I'm not a big fan of the menu. Anyone feel the same?

It looks to much like the PSP's menu. I'm afraid it won't have as much capabilities as the XBOX 360's menu. Please tell me that I'm wrong and overreacting.

You just need to get use to it. Its fairly easy to navigate through the menus like the 360. It'll get better every update.

Look who's openminded! I didn't like the menu at first but it deffinately grew on me as I used it more and more but I do perfer the 360's menu because of how colorful and cool it looks.

It has everything you need without all the extra crap that you don't want to see. I loved how every time I turned on my 360, it was trying to sell me a Sidekick or schlepping Sprint.

Originally I did not like it at all, but now I appreciate it's subtle, organized and clean look. I actually prefer it to the Xbox 360's dashboard.

Ps3s menu I like cause its more interactive alot more things to do and when home launches and psn store is updated it will be even better then it is now. Remotely accessing the ps3 through the psp is some sick genius too.

I'm encouraged buy all your comments. You see, my friend just bought a 360, and after playing it for a while, I really fell in love with the menu. From what everyone is saying though, there is alot of room for improvement for the PS3's menu. Thanks guys!!! Keep the comments coming, I'll be reading them.

I liked it but I think it could use a bit more "sub groups". Like settings has 30 (or so it feels like) "buttons" (display, system, audio, system update, and the list goes on). and I feel like movies, music and games should be put in the same category called "Media" or "Entertainment" or something like that. Just feels like there's too much buttons in one place.

though i bet you won't spend so much time on the menu in the long run. if you think you will though, u'll easily get used to it. I've never tried 360's but PS3's was easy to use and gets easier the more you use it. Have you tried the psp's menu?

OH GOD i hate the xmb. There is absolutely NO organization. I really wish it was menus. and all my games just layin there make it look cluttered. Plus When they add stuff, instead of it being nice and organized it get thrown in there like that stupid folding@home thing it makes it look like crap. Then the friends thing... there just something about it that i dont like, you know after you use a 360's friends thing then go to the ps3's, i seems like a HUGE downgrade for me. And i guess this has nothing to do with the xmb but when u press the PS button and it brings up this bland black screen with white text, its just pitiful, i mean come on you can do better than that crap.

So basically i want MENUS or BETTER ORGANIZATION and a MORE XBOX360 LIKE FRIENDS THING and a COOLER LOOKING POP UP MENU

I didnt like it at first, but I love it now, and even looking sweeter with the wallpaper...... and I used to think 360's menu was better too.

Well from what I understand, a lot of 360 owners who bought a ps3 or who switched found the Ps3's XMB Easier to use, more organized and in fact preferred it to the dashboard. As for features, I believe it can do pretty much everything the dashboard can from what i've seen on my friends 360. I personally enjoy the style and I think once you get used to it, you may too.

To be honest, I was sure either, at first. But after looking at 360's menu, I like it a lot better. All of your stuff is right there. You don't have to page through page after page to get to something.

I find it easy to use and very friendly.

yeah I actually really like the ps3's menu. I think its a bit easier to get to your media with it. YOu just click left or right a few times and your in you photos, music, videos etc. Pretty easy if you asked me. Sometimes in the 360 menu, stuff is buried in obscure menus (especially your themes and gamer pics)

Also you can make your own theme backgrounds... for free. My only complaint is that I wish you could make folders and a organize photos, videos etc how you liked. Right now it only has limited organizing functions like by name or creation date. But that sounds like something that could easily be fixed with an update....
