im having hdd difficulties/confusion

today i tried to put my hdd in my friends ps3 but it did not recognize my hdd. my ps3 is a launch 60gb his is a 80gb model. could that be the problem?

Nope that's not the problem. Any HDD with the same interface that of the PS3 should work fine. It was designed to work that way, for us to upgrade to high capacity HDD's.

AFAIK Game data, Game saves are not transferable to other PS3's. I dont know if it is already possible using the newest firmware 3.15.

so are you saying data from one hdd will not work on another ps3. im really confused lol

A PS3's internal hard drive will only work with the same PS3 that formatted it. If you want to move a drive from one PS3 to another, then you have to reformat the drive to access it on the new PS3, which erases all of the data.

Drives formatted for internal use also can not be removed and then connected externally to another PS3 or PC, because they are not formatted to allow that (I know, because I tried both connections when attempting to recover my game save data after my old PS3 stopped working).
