In a few days im going to get the 80GB PS3 but am confused because of some versions of the PS3 not having as many features as others, like the whole sd card slots where the flap opens. Some have this with 4 usb ports while others dont thave this and only have 2 usb ports. Can someone explain how there are so many variations of the same/fixed price console, hence 399 one.

Well, first off, it bothers me that the 80 gig PS3 can't support PS2 games, while the 60 gig PS3. As for the extra USB ports, and SD card slots, They're really not neccessary. I mean, if you're going to want to play with four people constantly, then yes you may want the 4 USB ports for charging purpouses. But I honestly don't understand the need for an SD card slot.

The model your talking about with all the extras was discontinued and replaced with a new 80GB that had a little less.

Yeah, I've never used my SD card slot, well maybe for a camera or features like those which is kinda nice. The main reason i like my 60g launch ps3 is for ps2 games, its really all three playstations in one. I've never really used more than one or two usb's at the same time, thus 4 is unnecessary. The 80 gig is just fine. I think they are coming out with a 160g soon, but don't quote me on that.

There is a section of my Official PS3 FAQ Thread that covers all the different versions. The thread is linked in my sig.

check out the Playstation website for all the info regarding the different systems. and there no point in bothering yourself with other models that aren't available, unless you're willing to get used consoles off eBay. try to do some research on what's available in stores, then search their differences in the PS official site... then decide.
