Hey guys,

I'm close to pulling the trigger on grabbing a PS3. The main selling point for me is that I skipped out on a PS2, and it has so many games to play, and I understand the 60 Gig model is the only one with 100% backwards compatibility.

I do have a few questions first. First, I don't own a HDTV, and can't afford one. Will the games look like crap on a regular tv, like blurry and fuzzy? Also, what exclusives are coming out this year? I've heard mention of Haze, but is it really coming out this year? Is it true that the Xbox 360 is superior in graphical power than PS3? Also, do you have to have a router to use the online? I only have a cable modem.

Thanks in advance.

hdtvs make the game look sharpers and brighter but sdtvs do not make the graphics look bad. oblivion looks good

and haze is coming out in sept i believe and right now they are kinda tied in the graphics, but the ps3 games arent using the full potential of the ps3, and you dont need a router just a modem (ethernet cable comes with the ps3)

1. Games will not look like crap/blurry on standar tv.

2. Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, Warhaw. The rest you an do youw own research on. Afterall....we're on a game site.

The rest of your questions I'll leave up tp you to answer by doing som research. Stop being lazy and look around for answers man.

Get the PS3. An HDTV won't get in the way of fun just look at handheld consoles.

i play on regular tv and i gotta tell you i am still impressed every time i turn it on.

x360 is not graphically superior to ps3, techinically ps3 is better but i doubt any1 could honest to god tell a difference either way unbiastly.

lair, heavenly sword, killzone2, mgs4 (those 2 are next year early) do you count playstation home in october? ratchet, and watch e3: )

Relax the games will look fine. I played my ps3 games in SD for a while before i got my hdtv, and they still looked amazing. For the future though, you may want to start saving for an hdtv, because ps3 games are a whole other experience on them, but they will look fine. I believe haze is coming out this year. The xbox 360 is not really superior in graphical power, it's just that it's easier to develop for x360's dvds than it is for blu-ray as many developers had experience working with dvds in the last gen. still, the ps3 has untapped graphical power that is seen in games like Ratchet and Clank, Killzone 2, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Heavenly sword and lair, all of which take advantage of the large space of blu-ray and begin to tap into the amazing graphical power of the system. If you haven't already, research some of these gaems on gamespot. Except for killzone, they'reall coming out this year. No you do not have to use a router, you can connect directly to your ps3 via ethernet cable, although if you want to concurrently share the connection between your pc and your ps3, then you may want to look into either a second cable modem or a wired/wireless router. Hope you enjoy your ps3 and hope i was helpful.

Plenty of exclusives, haze is this year along with UT3 as timed. Don't worry about the Sd/HD thing, it'll be fine.

I also have a cable modem and ethernet works great.

NO Also, do you have to have a router to use the online? YES YOU DO NEED A ROUTER I only have a cable modem.

Im sorry but it is ridiculous to buy a PS3 without an HDTV, its like having cereal without milk.....

Sorry to say, but if you can't afford a HDTV, you should be using your money for something else than a PS3!!!!

you do now need a router to connect online you can just connect a eternet cable from your modem to PS3 and it works fine, Future PS3 titles look far better than 360's current and future titles. Standard tv dont make the games look badder just that HDTVs make games look better, UT3 is also exclusive to PS3 this year if you dont have a good PC.

I did like you did and bought a PS3 with a regular TV. You won't see what it's fully capable of but it still looks great. I was an Xbox fan last generation and your right it's nice be able to go back and play the PS2 games. A lot of great games on it now that can be found for less then $10. Anyway if you think you might buy a new TV in the next 5 years PS3 is the way to go.

Edit: It is not true the 360 has more graphical power. Look at pictures of the upcoming games that should be proof enough. The graphics processor (GPU) on the 360 and PS3 is about equivalent, but what the PS3 has that X360 doesn't is 7 spus. These can be used to perofrm things that the GPU would normally do like lighting, particle effects, rendering, etc. leaving the actual GPU to do more. Secondly more data is available because of the hard drive and Blu-ray which means the PS3 can have more detailed textures and more varied graphics because their isn't the space limitations of DVD or the core unit with no hard drive.

Hey dude, not everyone just has thousands to spend, that's not cool at all. I make a ridiculous amount of money compared to most people I know and I didn't have an HDTV when I bought mine. Partly because I'm the type of person that would rather save and get what I want than run out and buy one for "500 bucks" just because it's out there.

WRONG. I played Gears of War on my tv which is nearly 20 year old and the game still looks amazing. I played it on my HDTV 60 INCH 1080I ans it looks bigger bright clear and sharper so you arnt missing out when you play on SDTV.

and i like my cerreal without the milk sometimes!
