That's the beauty so far of the PS3, even with all the bad-mouthing, the only real issue is content on the PSN, and a still developing game library (which will pretty much be settled over this summer).
No widespread problems, and the content on PSN is growing steadily, there's a lot of games comming out in the next few weeks, so NOW's a great time to go out and get your very own.8)
I don't recall any widespread problems caused by the console itself due to manufacturing issuesm but there are some user related problems. The PS3 will overheat if it is kept in a confined space such as an entertainment rack, shelf, etc. The manual clearly states that the console needs enough room for ventilation. Unfortunately some users do not follow the instrusctions, and thus have a console that overheats.
omg yah man, i have one and it like froze after playign risanteace for like 15 min. than we went to mine firends house( we both got it on same day, his ps3 was workign way better, smooth, no freeze when we were playinggenji, than next day he phones me and tells me that his ps3 also froze when he played ristance fall of men. we both got new ones and they are working fine. until mine started freezing again, ( my friends is still worked good) , so then i go back to best buy and get another one. and now my ps3 is workign ok but i am always playign ristance with a fear in my head ( what if it freeze again) casue man i hate to go back to bestbuy and get new one again. plus its annoying
