hey well i'm a 15 year old and i'l be honest im very mature for my age doing everything the right way , well most things.
but personaly i think it if your parents think you should have t and how mature they think you are
that sucks. :(
If you buy it online, like at Amazon.com, I don't think they ask you for your age. :?
At least not for me. >_>
Influenced? Yeah because you can go out, kill a bunch of people and cops, get killed, and then wake up in the hospital as if all that didn't happen.:P
And regret buying you Bully!?:o Now me I love that game best GTA clone(wonder why:P) ever but I never really saw why people complained about it.:?
Morris, it's not up to us- as long as you are under 18 and living with your parents they'll have the final say. If you want to convince them then try saying you realize the game is violent but you also realize it is fictional, like watching an action movie. Going "but my friends are all going to have it" goes against the maturity arguement. ;)lyndonAPI
Or it could be up to whether one of his older friends will buy it for him. In the end if a kid wants a game, he/she is going to find a way to get it.
... I can say I'm smart and mature for my age ... My parents don't like me playing games like this; they say they should never have let me get Bully... But I, like millions of others, really want this game. Almost all my underage friends got San Andreas, and will probably get GTA IV toomorris96
Noticed the irony? If you are matured enough for your age you probably should pay more attention to your parents. Submitting to peer pressure isn't what I'd call 'mature'.
I hear this often from other people, my own parents wouldn't let me get the PS2 GTA's and my Aunt had to buy me them. I merely explained to my parents that GTA is just a game. Games and Movies only influence the weak minded, or people with no thought or creativity of there own. I mean after playing GTA what they think you plan to kill people? C'mon. And Bully is without a doubt my personal favorite PS2 game, other than a few Punch's and rocks Bully wasn't really violent. But none the less being under 18, your parents have to buy it. I'd recommend having them order it online so they don't have second thoughts at the checkout line.
I say it's ok, but then again i was about 13 (I'm 19 now) when i got my PS2 (I'm in the UK too) and one of the games my mum and dad picked me was GTA3 and I'm fine with violence, never killed anyone (yet heh) and i find that killing people in games makes you more relaxed and less likey to kill in real life.spike6958
''Less likely'' Love it lol
i don't think you should be able to get the game. After playing the first gta for about 10 minutes, I had the incredible urge to do a whole bunch of illegal stuff. I reciently stopped doing heroin, but sometimes I break down and take the occasional doo doo on a sleeping hobo.
bottom line...no
My parents didn't want me to play gta back in the day so here's what I did: got my older sister to buy it for me, put the TV volume pretty low, and voila, gta goodness. Ingenious when you think about it ;)
Anyway, if you insist on being moral, get the game and if you start breaking the law, then stop playing. Problem solved :P
anyone who thinks they are mature and talk about these kinds of things aren't really.
the law states what it states. a mature person would follow the system of obedience, but find a way to fight the system that says otherwise without disobeying them. Or at the very least have the trust of your parents. talk to them....don't whine to them. don't tell them you are mature...show them. If you say you're mature but you ask them for money to buy the game, you are nowhere mature enough.
Mature for your age, huh? I've never met a 15 year old that didn't think that he or she was mature for their age. If you're as mature as you say you are then you should be able to rationally discuss this matter with your parents, and if they agree that you are mature for your age then there shouldn't be a problem with them buying the game for you. Otherwise you may not be as mature as you think you are.bdhoffSorry but I thought the same thing
Talk to them not us, what are you going to bring up this forum page and tell them a bunch of strangers said I should have it
Im 17 and i managed to preorder my copy from Play.com without any need for asking me age
BUT IM AWAY WHEN I COME OUT!
But play.com should get it to me for when i get home
You'd have to be not normal to try and do things like people on GTA.
Get it. Plus, its rated M, 17+ .
When I was younger and the other GTA's came out, my mom bought it for me. The clerks tried to give her the speech on whats in the game, and she wouldnt accept it, because she knows Id have to be crazy to do things like that. Heck, she even bought be Manhunt.
Now Im 17 though so I dont have to worry about age for games..
I had a similar prob, i'm 17 and wanted GTA4 and although my parents probs wouldn't stop me, i decided to move my PS3 up into my room and hook it up to my PC monitor. Now i've ordered it off amazon.co.uk (no age ID'ing ftw). So i should have no probs playing it :)
(i live in UK too).
What's the point of this thread? It's not up to random people on the internet to decide what you can do, that's your parents job. If they say you shouldn't get it that's pretty clear. Having said that if all your friends are going to get it, why don't you go behind you parents back and get a copy. So there you go if you feel like disrespecting your parents you could just lie to them. Notice how I took a back handed swipe at you? It's your life do what you want.CellAnimation
I agree with this one. If your 16 I don't see the problem if your a straight up normal kid, but if your on of those depressed kids who is easly pushed over the edge or your 13 then BIG no.
Im not saying that games make people violent, im saying that there are alot of people who hasn't been treated nicly by otehr people and are already thinking about blowing their brains out, don't need to get fresh ideas on how to do it and lowering the threshold for what you accept about violence.
alittle of topic in the end, but you get the idea :)

Actually something like that yeah. Presumably the people on here are gamers with experience, so some sort of wisdom in the terms of this thread. Their views would be good evidence for or against me getting the game.
Anyway thanks for the comments guys its good to get some other points of view. I guess I'll just have to keep trying, maybe if I get good results in my exams this year...
Paypal me, I'll buy it from Amazon for you lol.
Or if you're in the NJ area, I'll go get it for you. It should be your life long conquest to play this game!
I'm under 18 but love GTA. I can say I'm smart and mature for my age. I have a PS2 at the moment and with GTA IV coming out there's never been a better time to get a next-gen console. My parents don't like me playing games like this; they say they should never have let me get Bully. Their argument is that I will be influenced by the game and become more violent and like the 'heroes' of Vice City, San An, and now Liberty City. But I, like millions of others, really want this game. Almost all my underage friends got San Andreas, and will probably get GTA IV too. Should I be allowed it? If not then why not? :question:morris96
Tell your parents it is to late and you are going to go and burn down some buildings and beat up friends if you can't buy the game.....

Yea seriously. Tell them you are really pent up with violence. And GTA is just your outlet. Without that outlet you might go hurt real people.
They might put you in an insane ward...or it might go as planned and they buy you GTA4. Never know.
