Thinking about buying a PS3 from the U.S. (I Live in Australia) and was just wondering if there is any problems I will have with using it in Australia (besides the obvious one of needing a power adaptor for the power plug)

Mainly worried about the AV connection and whether it will be any different for my TV but any other known problems that i might face would be nice to know about

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

It wont be a problem if you have a HDTV or an SDTV that supports NTSC and 60Hz.

As mentioned above, if hooking up to an HDTV set you should have no problems with that end. However, you will find yourself not able to use the imported PS3 for localized Blu-Ray/ DVD movies due to region coding.

Thanks for the feedback, not to fussed about not being able to watch Blu-Ray DVDs, not to worried about them. But the TV thing does worry me, I don't have a HDTV so I will have to do some more investigation into whether I can use it.

And in response to why i'm doing it, the exchange rate. I can buy a 40gb PS3, and about 4 games from the U.S. for the price of just a 40 GB PS3 in Aus.

Thanks again for the feedback, and any more would be great, especially on the T.V. issue.....

A US Consol wont work unless you have a HDTV where you live. Here is the US standard def is 480 and there is like 520 something (or something like that) so basicly ull need to get a HDTV from where you or a SDTV from the US if you want it to work.

I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing of importing a US PS3. I have an HDTV, so that's fine. My main concern is of the power adapter. I live in New Zealand, so we have the same connection hole thingy as Australia, but will simply replacing the adaptor with one that works over here work? There arent any other things to consider such as different voltages or anything? I'm not too tech savvy so I'm just wondering...

Also, where would we be able to purchase a power adaptor ? Places that sell PS3s here don't sell just the cable on its own methinks
