I'm thinking about importing PES from Europe when it comes out in October. I was told there might be problems getting playing online, is there any truth to this? Also, will it be fine playing in my NTSC PS3? I assume yes. Thanks!

:)

A soccer game, Pro Evolution Soccer. :) It's coming out in Europe before the US.

If it is a PS2 game, then it will still retain the region coding, so the EU game will not work on the NTSC console.
If it is a PS3 game, then you will have no issues.

Blu-Ray games are all region free, so you can import all you want. Blu-ray movies and ps2 games are not though.

Will it look fine on my TV?

And can anyone be more specific about how it'll play online? Will I be able to play people in Europe and the US?

You would be accessing European servers- you may get a bit of lag, depending on the connection. Other than that you should see no problem.

As for how it will look, if you are hooked up to play in hi-def it will look great.

Don't know if PES will use worldwide servers or regionals. You might only be able to play against Europeans which might be a bit laggy.

Take a look at this:

as you can see, there are some issues when playing a PAL game on NTSC consoles when having the picture on an SD display, and it's interesting that some games will work fine while the other wont. the following games wont work: oblivion, COD3, Marvel. But if you have an HDTV, don't worry you'll be fine. and about the online gaming, I don't think you would have any major issues. You wont have any lags, make sure of that. I'm saying this because my friend got his resistance online while it was the PAL version, and we didn't had any problem playing online.

Thanks for the help, I'll see what people say when it comes out and go from there. :)

Oblivion worked for me but it was the other way round (NTSC on a PAL PS3)
