Right now, I have a 15" old SD TV, and when I play games (on both my PS3 and 360) any small text and images are very very blurry and illegible. I plan on buying a 19" 720p LCD TV when I gather all of my birthday money. Will that solve the problem, or do I need a larger TV?

Even on a small 19" HDTV the text will be MUCH more easy to read. It should be fine but if you want a bigger screen then go ahead and get one.

720p displays very good, but i suggest you wait another year maybe and save up for a bigger 1080p Tv.

Well it would probably take much longer than a year for me to save up for a big 1080p TV and the college I plan on going to doesn't allow TV's freshman year, so that means I would go 3 years without really being able to use my new TV.

I play my games on 52 inch 1080p Sony Bravia XBR. Needless to say, my picture quality is gorgeous. (The TV actually does a great job with the Wii as well).

Great for you. Your comment does help the TC at all. TC: I would AT LEAST get a 23" HDTV. I played on a Samsung 23" HDTV for a while, and it worked pretty well, but I still had some trouble reading smaller text every once and a while. It was not often and the overall experience was great. Using a console as powerful as the PS3 on something 19" or smaller is a crime.

22 inch HD shouldn't cost you much more than the 19 inch (probably about £20 difference here in the U.K on a budget brand).

any size hdtv, big or small... will BE A LOT better than any SDTV. so the 19" 720p tv is fine. personally though, i would prefer a little larger. 26" 27"...around that range.

HDTV will definitely solve your problem. I used to have a 20" SDTV in my bedroom and I just bought a 32" 720p on Friday and I noticed a HUGE difference. I usually play sitting up on my bed and playing games most of the time I either had to squint to the point where I got a headache or move a lot closer and it got to be really annoying. I finally just went and bought the new TV and it was well worth it. I can read everything clearly now and the games look stunning. Star Ocean: The Last Hope had the smallest, blurriest text I have ever seen in a game on my SDTV and I can read it fine now. It makes the non-voiced sections in BlazBlue much clearer too. I even used to have trouble reading the menus in MGS4 and now it's perfectly clear. I also played a little Fallout 3 and Killzone 2 and the graphics (which I thought looked good on an SDTV) looked amazing. Those are just a few examples of games I tried out, but it's worth it for all games. Not to mention Blu-Ray movies. Advent Children on DVD on my SDTV looked great, then watching Advent Children Complete on my SDTV left me completely speachless, and then after watching it on my HDTV I almost sh!t my pants. I even went back and popped the DVD Advent Children into my PS3 and noticed the HDTV even made that look better (although obviously not as good as the Blu-ray). Bottom line, get an HDTV and get HDMI cables. You'll wonder how you were able to play games without it.

I agree, 22" is the way to go, as there is barely even a discernable difference in price. $30-50 dollars tops, and the amount your experience will improve more then makes up for that.

But to answer the question, to go from a 15" SD, to a 19" HD, would be a night and day difference. Text would clear up, as would everything else. If you truly can't spring for the 22", just go for the 19" anyways.

I have a 25" HD, and there is a massive differace to SDTV. The text is much more readable. I say, save a little more money for a 22" or 24", not that much more really.

Pretty much what everyone else said. I was using pretty much the same as you and it looked pretty blurry and pixelated, but that's all I knew. Saw a family members 1080 40 and fell in love - now we got a 40inch 720, 22 inch 1080, but the 22inch looks miles better just because it's smaller. Most of the time It doesn't even run 1080 because of most games don't support it or look rubbish when upscaled.

Best TV ever, look at costco. They have a lot of TV's that are a lot cheaper. I got my 36 inch there for like 400 bucks when it was on sale.
