In Game XMB!

a currently japan-only game called Mainichi Issyo (basicaly home-lite, with cats) had a recent patch update alowing the user to, well... read the bold below

"Mainichi Issyoalso has mini games like Paper, Rock, Scissors. Actually, it's a lot of fun, and Sony should consider taking it to international markets. Thanks to the latest patch, it now seems to also have an in-game chatting function. Players can send, write and receive messages while playing as well as see the list of your friends and players met while in Mainichi Issyo.It's a free download from the Japanese PSN Store, and here's info on how to create a Japanese account in order to get it. Like I said, think of this as Home-lite. With cats."

that says nothing about in game xmb, it jsut says you can chat and see your friends list in that game...your tittle is bunk..Hotwad

if you look at the screens, its the XMB that they are sending the messages from. they are sending the messages while they are in the game.

yes it is, i think its a bit of a testing ground for them. then again some firmware developers for sony said in game music and such is already possible, it just has to be implemented by the developers.

Ok so I downloaded it to try this out and there is in fact no XMB access. You press a button and it opens just the friends part of the xmb, you cannot access any other parts of the xmb.

Cool nonetheless though.

atleast it's a start. From what I read from the developer's SDK, the memory footprint of the XMB is huge. that could be the reason we are not seeing it happen. Sony has been doing a good job of optimizing the memory footprint of alot of the other features(online used to take up like 50MB...now it's like 35MB). I am sure once they get the memory footprint down to a better level, we will see more.

thats exactly what some of us want. to not have ot exit the game in order to look at a message

thats exactly what some of us want. to not have ot exit the game in order to look at a message

yea but if they used this feature you'd still basically have to since it has to be done from a menu, unless they put it in the pause menu.

neither do i, i looked for the pictures as well. It'd the middle one on the top of the first group that comes up in the Japan store with the two cats. When you first start it it will download the patch they talk about which takes some time then you'll get a screen where all you can do is quit (because it has to restart to use the patch), quit out with the ps button and re-open it and just keep hitting x.

The messages feature is from the logo that kinda looks like two people. then its the last option in the next menu

I didn't play "Mainichi Issyo" for a long long time, and i'll update the latest version tonight, yeah!
