Well thats how all Resident Evil games have been to date. it would be convinet to walk backwards while shooting but it gives more of the horror feeling in away just standing and shooting. Really all you have to do is make a 180 degree turn then run and turn back and shoot them

but that sucks dude ! really ! wouldn't make u feel more comfortable if u could walk and shoot at the same time ! if they added Walk'n'Gun in this game them I am sure that it would surpasses metal gear solid 4 ! if not I am not gonna get it :( it makes me very sad to see a game that have a lot of potential have a flaw like that !
its not really a flaw its a gameplay mechanic it was made like that on purpose...SaintJimmmyI think we can all be honest in that when you see a zombie with some kind of monster exploding out of their head you will run and shoot

Not the RE cast, they have nerves of steel!!

You can move and shoot with Kevin in Outbreak File 2.
Originally not being able to move and shoot was done to slow down the games pace, it was pretty much apart of its gendre, but now that RE has entered the age of fast action, co-op game play based in bigger outdoor areas, you begin to wonder if its really of any use anymore...
It maybe doesn't need for it today, but it's one of the trademarks that make Resident Evil what it is.
I hope they stay true to the previous gameplay, the moment you can run around and shoot, this isn't resident evil anymore, but just another run and gun.
It makes sense to stop and shot, it always did in RE games. They already took out tape writers, which was also a hallmark of the game...
You have to use your brain, if they allow running and shooting, it would still be a good game, just not Resident Evil.
My thoughts anyway.
its a horror game, making you seem helpless is the games about. sure they could of added that in like a lot of shooters do, but remember that past games has you more than just "blow that guys head off" like puzzles, running around open this door with a key at the over side of the stage, get the vaccine, ect. look at silent hill homecoming "lets add more combat control so the player doesn't feel so helpless add alot more ammo, axes, trouches and a laser cannon, and make the game seem more like a action game with a bad flash light" they're trying to stick to the formula of the past games (sorta)
Not Run and Gun ! more like WALK and Gun like in metal gear solid 4 ! walking slowly and gun!It maybe doesn't need for it today, but it's one of the trademarks that make Resident Evil what it is.

Well said, my exact thoughts, RE is unique experience, at least it was in last 8 years...
This generation of games are way to wash-up.
Again, slow walking with the weapon wouldn't hurt the game.
I'd normally say it's not an issue, it's part of the RE gameplay style blah blah. But they've already made it into more an action game so why not. Destroy the last bit of uniqueness it has by making it a Gears of War clone. Heck why not have every game from now on be and play exactly like Gears of War. Dahaka-UK
Dude u saw what they did with metal gear solid 4! they changed it more into a third person shooter ( they kept the stealth thing ) but they changed it a little bit more into a third person shooter , and look at it ! It surpassed all the previous metal gear games!
Btw what uniqueness! Not being able to move while shooting is very UNrealistic! U can shoot and move at the same time in real life u know !

Please stop comparing it to MGS4. This is Resident Evil. Two completely different games. Two games with their own unique aspects and gameplay.
while not being able to move and shoot can be considered pretty lame by most, my biggest complaint about the new games is the lack of a quick 180 turn button. Why did they take that out? Leon turns way to slowly to not have this ability.
Or at least give us the MGS4 camera system so I can see who is behind me!

My mistake it's been awhile. I've just been playing the knock offs recently i.e. Gears of war and Dark sector and those games lack them, which hurts them in my opinion. I questioned my comment after posting it but I no longer own RE4 to check it out.
My only complain about RE5 is the same as I had with RE4 there is no doubt that RE4 was a huge success and the new direction they took it but it was more action than horror and puzzles in the game well there was none except for two The church which is not that hard and the fitting the pieces together when taken control of Ashly these are the only puzzles in the game which I was disappointed with.
Some people when you tell them I want horror back they replay with "you want to play in a mansion again" which is not what I or other fans of the series mean but in the RE games there were always those moments where you go down the stairs or room and something just pop out of nowhere which RE1,2,3 and Code veronica had.
As for what you mentioned TC I really don't care if they add that or leave it like it is what is important to me is that the game stays true to its Ruth and doesn't become another third person shooter which from the screen shoots I saw it seems it has become that.
Well, you won't be able to move and shoot in Resi5 and to implement it now would be silly. Apart from this being one of the last vestages of the survival horror roots of the series the co-op (the way its implemented in RE5) would be lost if they suddenly allowed you to run/walk while shooting-you and Sheva could end up way apart in one scene. The whole "backs to the wall" dynamic would change and therefore the whole game would require overhauling. Anyway, as the series progresses this way I do think it'll happen in maybe the next game but not this one-I guess it'll depend on whether 6 goes back to basics or continues to add action. I loved 1,2 and 4 in the series(I even feel that RE4 on the Wii(I know!)is possibly the best version of the best game in the franchise)and, tbh, the games are moving towards the action end of the spectrum but this not moving while shooting has added some scare/survival value in the past and while that may not be the reason for it staying this time round I'm not sad it is as they've calibrated the whole experience to work with this mechanic. Plus to have two of you both shooting and running(even if they could change it to work at this stage)with slow moving enemies would make the game really easy imo-zombies/the infected aren't known for their speed and the tension comes in Resi4 from managing the threats by capping those nearest while fooling around with your resouces to stay alive. Having gone with even bigger environments and even bigger numbers to accommodate the co-op surely this mechanic is pretty central to the thinking in RE5?
And the whole MG universe isn't "real" and neither is the Progenator virus or, as far as I know, are zombies. You can have too much of a good thing y'know and I feel that moving and shooting, esp the way this game looks to be laid out, would be one of those times and wreck the experience in pursuit of uneeded realism. But it's just my opinion-I'd rather the best experience than the "realest".

Am I preventing u from enjoying any game ?Nope, and I doubt you will... still, stick to that solution if it's so damn dreadful to play a game with RE characteristics.
what is there problem can't they just fix it.sub-raid
There's nothing to fix. It's supposed to be that way which is why a lot of people like RE and the fanbase is so huge in the first place.
i say this thing stop walking and shoot is a problem in this game.sub-raid
And I say it isn't, it's called an opinion.
In my opinion RE5 is not aSurvival horror it's like gears of war now it's 3rd person shootersub-raid
That's how it was with re4 which came out before gears.
just shut up with ure f***ing storiessub-raid
Calm down and take a breather.
This is a next gen game of the resident evil franchise and they are still using the same damn controls and movement of the resident evil 4(witch is bad) but I really don't care, u know this game would really become my favorite game of all time if they fix this thing (yes FIX, it is broken, can't move while shooting, how unrealistic is that!)

The new gameplay that you aren't happy with is what made RE4 successful and new gamers became fan of the series, Capcom took a new direction with RE series and it worked great with RE4 they won't take a step back and not it is not broken all the series are like that, instead of writing fix it I belive it should be ADD the new feature.
