Coolyfett has not played the game yet & is reading up all the reviews. It seems to be a major bread winner for the PSP. In what ways could the NGP make Monster Hunter better? Will the 2nd A-stick fix the camera problems?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
The original Monster Hunter game for the PS2 had made use of the analog sticks and analogue click so, these will be like introducing something new but, familiar.
Using the touch to choose HUD and GUI options would also lay low the number of button pressing needed to access weapons, items, accessories, etc.
I guess all the hardware and other technological improvements will help the franchise too. I sort of wonder if the NGP will be capable of better sound quality.
Number one way it will be better will be having ability to pet your monster through use of the rear touch panel.
Larger more diverse level designs, better graphics obviously, better camera controls, more streamlined inventory and controls (assuming the analog nubs double as buttons), full online playability and community, quicker or no loading times between sections of levels. There'sa lot of room for improvement with the ngp.
2dd analog stick equals better gameplay, online features (c'mon Capcom), larger levels (maybe even seamless level designs if the system is capable)
That would true if the MH games were terrible games but they're not.no way for NGP to make a horrible game less horrible

Depends on the basis of your argument and your compelling evidence.
All's I know is Monster Hunter is the best pick and play, fun hack+slash/shooter/adventure/customizable/multi-playing game out there.
The only other JRPG/adventure/shooter/hack+slash game I look forward to besides Monster Hunter for the NGP would be Phantasy Star. Something like Phantasy Star Portable 3G. ;)
Seriously though, those might be the biggest in that I can think of that are of that genre. Biggest in terms of sales figures.

That would true if the MH games were terrible games but they're not. Took the words straight outta my mouth. The only people that i've met who don't like Monster Hunter games are the ones who complain that its too hard.Did you download the demo version yet? 'Cause personally that gave me a bad impression. Yes the demo was downloaded. It is a difficult sim that is for sure, BUT calling it a bad game based on Coolyfett's lack of skill would be hasty. Coolyfett is fair, even when it seems he is not. Coolyfett WILL beat the 3 stages on the demo.
The one thing I would love would be a huge, open world Monster Hunter without all these areas. You know the videos that play when you start up Monster Hunter? Especially in Tri. Thats how open world I would wanna see it. [QUOTE="jasonharris48"]That would true if the MH games were terrible games but they're not. Took the words straight outta my mouth. Like a lot of peple say, it's a love it or hate it game. I won'tbad mouth it because even though it doesn't appeal to me, I can see why a lot of people would like it. It just didn't have enough story elements (or any other reason to grind and get stronger besides getting stronger), not enough maps, and no online component for a purely grinding-based game. After I got over the graphics and the impressive-looking equipment (about 15-20 hrs in), I got bored and put it down for good.
Even if itjust had online I think I'd like it a lot more. Until then, it just doesn't feel like a complete game to me atm on the psp. Hopefully the ngp can expand on what it offers because there's a lot to grow on imo.

Took the words straight outta my mouth. The only people that i've met who don't like Monster Hunter games are the ones who complain that its too hard. I was going to say the same thing. The whole point of the game is to be "too hard". Most people fight the first and easiest monster and they're asking why the FIRST one is so hard and put it down. The first time I played it, I did the same thing but I just kept trying. Third try and I managed to beat the first monster 'cause I fought him enough to know how he moves and when. And it just gets easier every time you fight the same monster. Its all about experience. You can give a brand new player the best armor and weapon and they'll have a harder time than an experienced player with NO armor and a crappy weapon.[QUOTE="wakefulness"]

I sort of agree but, that element of not needing to be sucked into it is what appealed to me. The minimum story actually streamlined the satisfaction of getting into a mission and getting out and doing it all over again. I think that suited the PSP a bit more. For one because of the fact if it had a long story and cutscenes that would have been a bit of a waste of battey life (In hindsight, due to the fact MH I played never had a back-story to trip me up) and for the fact the PSP just was not as ergonomic. The fact the PSP was not ergonomic actually played a big role in why I liked playing that in busts and part of why story did not matter as much either.
The NGP will likely have the luxury of being better built with the actual raised micro-analogs - preventing what some would call the "claw" effect. Also, the larger game sizes would probably help that as well. I can not speak for other stories of MH as I've only played a few (exlcluding MHP3'rd). In terms of viuals, perhaps this is what people should look forward to,
Compared to this,
The PSP's version still would look good but, visually the NGP can really buff out a few things. I certainly could not tell the PSP's version had a guy, with a hat, hacking at the giant dragon. In the picture above I can actually differentiate between the Monster and the Hunter. It still will boild down to mechanics and the PSP's version is really gratifying.
What about Trophies and leader boards? Would that make it a better experience? Might be cool to see where you rank against other hunters in your region.
Coolyfett
Yes. The NGP will have trophies. Online leader boards is always possible. Using the location based feature for that kind of ranking would be good as well. People could know which regions had the best players. Normally, it would be Japan due to the fact Monster Hunter titles would always be released in that region first. US players are no slouches either. Let's not forget EU players either.

Maybe 3 leader boards would be more fair.

I actually don't know how the online for MH really works. I might have tried it once but, I don't think anyone was in the lobby with me. Not sure.
I really think Capcom would like messing around with stuff like GPS. They added dolby digital sound so, something associated with the GPS seems cool. They would find some way to make it work.

Sort of an in-game bragging pic of what you hunted and the co-ordinates - i.e latitude and longitude - of where you beat a monster. It could be like a picture of your Hunter next to the Giant Monster you just hunted down and it could be shared with your friends to the public or just be kept to your self.
That idea was inspired by a blog in wired.com. People where going all over the place just taking pictures of where they where somehwhere in the world while writing down their longitude and latitude either with a stick in the sands of the Gobi or something like that.
It is essentially the same concept but combines it with video games. It would sort of build on the local gaming community if people shared their kills publicly.
[QUOTE="Coolyfett"]He means that right now, you can only shoot projectiles when you're not moving. But we also don't want some FPS for gunners. I think something like Gears of War over the shoulder style would be alright for Monster Hunter. That's basically what it is already, but a bit stripped down in control. What do you mean?
