Something is messed up with Gamespot. Those are screenshots from Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis haha.
oh ya i just noticed the title on one of the screenshots! Whew! thats a relief. If a psp game looked that bad, I would definitely question the developers and what they are doing these days.
Staff of Kings is awesome. Got it today at GameStop and I'm really impressed with the quality. Great graphics, fun gameplay and actually good controls. It feels like they actually tried to make a good game.

i got this game today. its amazing! the graphics are decent.. good lighting. the missions are short. the loading time isnt a lot. the boss fights are creative where its not all about brawling. there are puzzles you have to figure out too. the hand to hand combat works good and isnt sluggish. u can pick up objects from the environment and use as weapon. the gun and whip are fun. there are a LOT of cut scenes. i don't know if thats a bad thing or not. the levels have replay value because there are "skill" objectives that you can complete just like resistance retribution skill objectives, and then there is the main mission and then there are artifacts that you can find that are hidden. getting artifacts and completing these skill tasks gives you credit that you can use upgrade your characters health, dmg, etc.. and there is a lot of upgrades to do. the game moves at a fast pace. i really liked it so far. the action in this game actually makes you feel like indy where you can grab someone and throw them out of a window, bash bottles on their head, hit them with chair .. u know the dirty style. i just hope there is a move where u can kick someone down below. that would make it classic. i think its a pretty good game for the psp.
buddy, no offense.. but when you download stuff for free all the time, nothing meets your expectations. you get it for free, give a one liner of "it sucks" and move on.yeah, graphics look bad
maxim47
same. it doesn't get boring. and the replay value for each mission is a lot. i keep playing each stage over and over to get all the objectives so i can buy upgrades for ol' indy.
This game has been much-maligned mainly because it came out only in 3 versions for 4 lower-spec platforms.
6 weeks ago I bought a black component-lead PSP3000 only to play Lemmings (extra levels as PS2 only on PS2 and PSP) and to play Indy-Staff.
It took me five weeks slowly to complete Indy on PSP, and it plays-looks good although it has 11 annoying wobble-over-beams bits.
Occasionally as suggested above I replay a level on different difficulty setting to get bonus-bits/things to upgrade powers/'buy' all of nice pics.
Since theres already a therad on the new indian game I'll ask my qustion here..
Since theres no 360 or PS3 versions of staff of kings, is it possible that the PSP version has better graphics then the PS2 and Wii versions?
I have both a PS2 and a PSP, but since I only buy games for my 360 and/or PSP, I'll prob buy the PSP version..
As I already have Indy-Atlantis on Amiga which plays on my Amigas and PCs via excellent Cloanto Amiga Forever, I am glad that for PSP with component lead/good memory card I forked out £180 for PSP 3000-Lemmings and Indy Staff (goodish but sometimes annoying game with crap killing-room bonus rooms).
Is it worth please going through again twice on the 2 higher difficulty settings on PSP to go to the relevant 2 bonus rooms (I was rather bored with the 1st bonus room, just 'killing' with no e.g. treasure reward). I am about near the end of 'Archaeologist' runthrough, but would prefer just to play it occasionally for fun with full invincibility etc rather than to wobble over 11-12 beams etc endlessly).
Thanks for input from anyone who has bothered to achieve all 3 of the bonus rooms.
It seems then that the only 4 people to buy it are I/the guy who posted nice PSP vids on YouTube/Harrison Ford/George Lucas
I can hardly wait to find out how to convert my June 13th UMD to digital for overpriced PSP Go.
for those of you who think this game sucked, did you guys even try it on your psp or basing it judging the wii review for it or other people's comments about it? i played the whole game and thought it was really good for the psp. had a lot of fun with it. if you have not played the game for the PSP i think you should give it a try. because its totally different from the console versions.I seriously think this game is a big ass flop.

Many gamers on here are FOLLOWERS, they base their opinion either on the majority opinion or the Gamespot review. Notice there are some many games available but people talk about the SAME OLE GAMES all the time. Indiana Jones is not one of those SAME OLE GAMES, so the follower types would never support it.

ya i agree. the game was not perfect, but its quick missions and fun combat was enjoyable. i am sure if it was called "monster hunter: the adventure of indiana jones" or "final fantasy: indiana jones before crisis core" people would flock to buy it no matter what. i usually try all games that are action/adventure just because i like that type of games. on top of that i am a huge indiana jones fan. the voice they used for indy sounded just like harrison ford, and the game play was fun. the wii one sucked badly because of control issues. the psp one on the other hand was good for a hand held. btw Coolyfett, i played both force unleashed and indiana jones for the psp, and i think the force unleashed was better just cuz it had more of a god of war type of gameplay with lots of powers. indiana jones is more realistic type fighting like punching and kicking, and i am sure most would agree that a light saber is way cooler than bare hands. still, indy was a fun game. once you are done with the main story though, there is almost no replay value. you can unlock all the bonus skills, cheats, game pictures in your first play through, and there really was'nt much reason for me to play the entire game twice.

While I agree with the premise that there are gamers that flock to popular games just because they are popular-- it's just as bad as those that don't play popular games because they are just that. Popular. Regardless, some of these 'same ole games' your talking about probably deserve the praise they are getting. Give it time the games talked about now will be jjust a shadow and the next big thing will roll into town. Who in the world would be caught dead talking about Dissida when Metal Gear: Peace Walker jumps on the band wagon of released games :P

Yea no doubt about it. Mind u I have not played the gamer, but it is funny when people bash it and never played it and then say " no one wants to play an indiana jones game" lol @ "monster hunter: the adventure of indiana jones" or "final fantasy: indiana jones before crisis core"....You never lied about that one!!! Sometimes I purposely stay away from the games that the zombies/clones play and chat up so much on here. Its like DS owners and that damm Pokemon crap.
Testify. And woe be unto you if your opinion of the chatted-up few popular games differs from theirs.
I'm one of the people who likes those outside games... that's how I stumbled onto the "Reel Fishing" series. There are plenty of games out there which are not on the beaten path and didn't review incredibly high which are perfectly viable, fun titles. It's a shame that there aren't more demos of games available, just a level or a 10 minute limit before system reset like the old Official Playstation Magazine used to do with it's demo discs. I might be more inclined to purchase titles if I could get a tiny taste first... but cold-call impulse game buying on my budget just doesn't happen. At all.
:(
That's how I wound up with more than half of the games in my PS2 library. I would get the monthly demo and you might get a smattering of "Indiana Jones", enough to determine if the game was to taste. I'm not a follower but it's hard to go against a 6/10 and public-at-large disinterest and tough it out. Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug when ya do, and at the cost of new software who can afford the gamble? Right?
I appreciate threads like this with a few articulate and dedicated fans of a game though, it makes me interested. Thanks!
i wonder if psn charges game developers money for putting up their demo's on psn. games would sell a lot more if they put up demo's of each game on PSN. just a level maybe to give us an idea how the full game will be like. GOW demo, resistance retribution demo, dissidia demo, killzone liberation demo, comes in mind, and playing those demo's definitely gave me the urgency to buy the full game right away.
ston3henge, youre totally right about demosdarkPSPfan
Nice to say something that isn't turned over to the mods instantly as offensive lately. But I keep forgetting that this website isn't covered by free speech and I state an opinion and the next thing I know I'm locked out. I guess calling someone who's a blindered FF-Dissidia fan a "DissIdiot" is out of line? Who knew?
But demos are howI wound up with "WipeOut", "Twisted Metal", "Indigo Prophecy", "Flipnic", "Future Tactics", most recently "Patapon" and lots of other obscure software for my Sony consoles. Perhaps devs ought to figure out how to get it done through PSN. I can understand not having demos out on a disc as that is rather expensive to do, but DDL is not. I've bought and played through TONS of games which I never would have looked at twice because of demos.
Perhaps older game demos are largely serving re-sale shops, but there's very little excuse for newer titles coming to not have some sort of demo on PSN, which then serves Sony interests by getting us into the PSN in the first place. It's like someone standing out on the street corner barking for the store... as long as you can get people IN, at least a percentage are going to then spend money there. The trick is getting that customer inside in the first place.

Good & fair points champ! I do remember those demos myself!! I do see it all the time though. "such & such got a bad rating on gamestop, so Im not touching that game." Some of these companies pay for positive reviews. The overall average review should be based on actual gamers, not 10 or 11 gaming site reps. Sometimes a really good game is under promoted and an average game like The Force Unleashed was heavy promoted. I just think gamers should ACTAULLY think for themselves and not let others think for them.
the way i chose a game:
pre-chosing)I have to have interest in that type of game. if i don't have any interest, no matter how good the review is i won't try. (example: loco roco= no interest)
1)read review at gamespot if available or at IGN or any other review i can find.
2) check metacritic score if available
3) check out you tube videos of actual game play
4)look at forums and find out what other players say about the game
5) find out as much as i can about the game and what are the frustrating points about it and the good points about it
if good out weighs the bad, then i will purchase it. i won't buy a game that has too much problems in it so i research about it first beforehand.
ya i know this is time consuming, but to do all the steps above can take 15 -20 min max, and its well worth it for a game that can cost 20-40$.
Now if game developers would just release the demo on PSN of their games, i could skip most of those steps and make a decision much faster. i guess some games that come out are that bad, that developers don't even want to showcase their game as a demo, cuz it would reduce sales. most games though that meets certain standards should have a demo out pre releasing their game. that's free advertising right there. There is also another problem with releasing a demo though. today's culture is so fast and so restless that a lot of people have the tendency to try one level of a demo out, says "meh" and disregards the entire game to go find a different game instead to play and pass on another 1 second judgment that developers worked so hard to create. i am sure that could be a reason why we don't see as many demo's as we used to for ps1 classic.
