Imagine you could play Rome: Total War, Civilization IV, World of Warcraft, Supreme Commander...all on your Playstation! Now that would be an real treat! And would enlarge our game library massively, such unspeakable things! Yet, it would be a boost to our sales, userbase, and the most important of all...loyalty.
Since Sony is trying to make the PS3 a computer, why not let PS3 play PC games? Nothing offendable about that hmm? Although it will irrirate Microsoft albeit, because we would be able to play Halo, Halo 2 on our consoles! A greatest insult of all, is to one's demise of a rival.
but ps3 is just as good or a bit better than a pc imo because its has multimedia functionality without all of the silly loading times for programs you wont eve use liek microsoft word, office etc etc

Without ANY of "stupid" PC functionalities, but the only function is to play your PC games on the PS3 hmm? I know i want to, I have like ten AAA titles that i can't play anymore because I don't have my computer anymore, so I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to play your computer games on the PS3 hmm?
Since Steam and Source have a Linux versian you could theoretically play CSS on your PS3, just need some patencience. havent seen anyone try yet suprisingly.
A Monopoly as defined by the US Government is illegal. that's why Microsoft broke up a bit because the US Courts deemed Microsoft a total Monopoly over the PC Market. So a strong percentile or large share would be a better term.

Hehem, ROFLOLMAO sorry about that but it just kinda slipped out. Do you really expect them to allow you to do that? It Most likely will only be able to done with heavy modding of the console, they wouldn't let us take advantage of that mainly because we would be able to use torrent programs along with it. I personally have Windows Vista running on my Ps3 at the moment just mail me if you need info on how to do this. [ Note that you need to have a valid copy of vista; you just need the disk not the serial number ].
I had emulators up to the N64 era installed on the PS 3. And they worked as good as in the PC. I also had the game Boy Advance emu too and it worked great even with new roms

Sony emulating a WIndows operating system on their ps3 to allow all ps3 owners to play pc will NOT happen. Sony would have to MS some big $$, and even in that scenario I don't think MS would go for it. If a Linux application for PPC was released that allowed YDL users to play PC games on their Linux OS, Sony would have nothing to do with it, and therefore wouldn't have any lawsuit trouble. Just pray that some Linux gurus will bring a program like Cedega to PPC Linux. I don't think it would be able to play very good games if it were possible, as the "other os" does not have access to the RSX and it's RAM. Anything you could run would have to be old or have low requirements.

roms is illegal you know? Do I have to care? Im not distributing them nor encouraging to do it so I havent done anything wrong. I only use them. Also, there are so many illegal things that you and most of you dont respect, like minors alcohol, porn, smokes, R rated movies like Scarface and such, M and AO games. Do I have to go on?

Most PC games require DirectX to run, and Microsoft owns directx so this thread is pointless. It ain't gonna happen, unless games start supporting linux.
Plus Sony doesn't collect royalties from PC game manufacturers so from a business stand point Sony only stands to lose money if PS3 could play PC games because it will draw users away from buying PS3 games which is where Sony makes their profit.
There's a reason why PC games are called PC games they're mean't to be played on your PC, if you wanna to hook up your PC to you 50" HDTV all you need is a DVI cable. I think this thread is very stupid. Thank god you don't run Sony.

roms is illegal you know? only illegal if you dont own the original cartridge, and yes - i do have roms, and the originals in their physical format

R rated movies and M games aren't illegal, insuations of such are what's troubling the game industry as it is.
