The PS3 is sometimes a mistery to me. It is obvious that the console can do numorous things. I've read about remote play, and I've heard that it is possible to connect to my PC. But Im still not sure what it can do!

For instance, can I connect to my PC via my wireless network, and open my video/music files? And would it also work on wireless harddrives? What should I know/do, before I try this?

And what about remote play? Are there any PS3 & PSP owner who could tell me what exactly they can do with this?

I wanted to start this topic because I wanted to hear about the integration capabilities of the PS3. So if you have other examples, please post it!

Using Media Servers on your PC, you can Stream Videos, Music and Pictures to your PS3. The Media Server I use in TVersity. It's great.

As for the PSP. With remote play you can turn on your PS3 from anywhere in the world (with WiFI connection). You turn it on and watch your Videos, Music and pictures from your PS3 on the PSP. This in combination with Media server, lets you stream stuff from your PC to the PSP via the PS3. It's great. Remote play can also be used to play PS3 games on your PSP (Lair only so far).

Well their saying UT3 has a mouse and Keyboard option on the PS3. Which is kinda cool. And UT3 might be good after all on the PS3, via word from what some are saying.

As far as the PSP thing. I have to wait till my nephew brings his over, I do want to see on that.

Mouse and keyboard in UT3 would make gaming much faster. And map editing also, if there is any.

Be sure to share your story about the PSP thing!! More stories like that should be told more often!

The PSP Remote Play feature has been great for me. When I go out to mow the lawn, etc., I can put a CD into the PS3 and play it via Wi-Fi to the PSP, or even listen to podcasts, etc. without downloading them to the (small) Memory Stick Pro Duo on my PSP. Also, I love being able to start a download on the PS3, go to bed (or leave home) and sign in to the PS3 via the PSP and turn the PS3 off after the downloads are complete, or even install demos so they're ready to play when I get back to the system.

Sounds good, but why arent more people posting here? Shouldnt remote control and connecting to a PC be commonly known to PS3 owners?

i have my windows vista laptop as my media server. So i can play videos, audio and view pictures on my PS3. Both my PS3 and laptop are connected wirelessly to my router. I even have put wall paper from my laptop as the background theme on my PS3 before! I dont have a PSP but it sounds like it would be worth getting one based on what others have said.
PS: What does "Bump" mean. I see that on a lot of threads!

You can install all sorts of distributions of Linux on your PS3 if you are interested in allocating 10 GB of your hard drive for it. That way you don't have to settle for the mediocre browser on the PS3 and can instead, use Mozilla Firefox. I've even seen videos on youtube of people installing emulators via. Linux. Some dude was playing the SNES version of Chrono Trigger on his PS3. Very cool...

I think it is pretty cool how you can hook a printer up to your PS3 and print your photos. In time, I'm sure they will add a feature for the PS3 to hook up with networked printers.

I would also expect that in the future they will support Bluetooth audio. I don't expect this to happen anytime soon though.

Remote Play is good, but it would be better if the PSP had a 802.11g wireless card in it rather than 802.11b. That extra 43 MB/s speed maximum bandwidth speed could make a difference in streaming quality.

Overall, the PS3 has made great strides in expanding its multimedia feature set in the first year. I believe it is the best media hub on the market. If you get a PS3, an HDTV, and a good surround sound system, you're set.
