I just read a topic about a tv that has the XMB- most likely not the ps3's. but what if there was a tv like that? A TV with an XMB similiar to ps3's. You would be notified when people sign on/off even if your ps3 is off. Your tv could tell you about ps store updates, firmware updates and all that stuff. It would obviously be released by Sony. And it would have to be HD, of course. Any other ideas to add on this fantasy?

Its not a fantasy. The 360 will be doing just that with I.P.TV (called media room) very soon. Could be possible with PS3 as well if they get permission.

I don't quite understand what your saying, a regular tv with the XMB? Or are you talking about PlayTV, the DVR thing?
