Just wondering if anybody is interested or would be interested in the new Socom game to be released this fall.

I realise the previous games are not that popular these days when compared with the success of Socom 1 and 2.

But Zipper seem to be giving Socom 4 a major overhall to make it more accessible to an untapped audience, with things like a new campaign mode with co-op, regenerating health and a cover system to name a few things.

I'm just curious to gauge the level of interest from people who wouldn't normally consider buying Socom.

yep, its definitely a good thing they're taking that stance. At the same time though, this game will have some major differences from S2. we'll just need to wait and see if they can pull off both, A. pleasing the existing fans, and, B. drawing in a much needed new fan base. exciting times ahead for Socom fans

I have created several socom4 threads and it seems to me people lost faith in the series after that bad outing on the ps3 and also the pre-render demo that was shown with the motion controls. But i have read alota articles and i have saved alot of the pictures on my desktop, infact i got all the team members(including the cool korean chick that plays recon) as my wallpapper.

I also fancy the fact that they are trying to integrate an uncharted like gun play into it abit cuz i heard one of em developers say they had some help from the team at naughty dog

The Campaign mode on the second game was amazing to me... it's still a gorgeous bit of graphics... and I did my time with it online, but honestly what turned me off about the game was not the game itself but some of the players it attracted online. I've also never felt like the targetting was something I had any control over in the online, I'm not a good third-person perspective player, I suppose... I liked the brief FTB3 on the PSP recently (I realize that was Slant 6). Who knows, perhaps I might play another itteration for the Campaign, but I won't bother with the online because of 3rd-person-suckage I have aready admitted to!

:D

I was always pissed that lag effected the most interesting maps, and that certain weapons were over-powered... but good times, I guess... good times.

haha! that's fair enough I suppose :) I don't thing we will need to worry about lag so much anymore. even though I don't like or play MAG, the servers run smooth. especially foor the number of players it supports

SOCOM 2 was and still remains one of my favourite games, if not 1st, it's 2nd. I spent countless afternoons and evenings playing the hell out of that game and as soon as 3 came out, things went downhill. For me, Confrontation was fun. Clan based game and the shooting was good, but everything else was imbalanced. Zipper knows how to balance games - loo at the extensive beta of MAG and the way that turned out, as well as SOCOM 2. The reason some guns were slightly better was 'cos of the lag which made fast firing guns much, much better. Anyhow, the campaign looks neat but I'll never play it. Multiplayer is what the fans want, and its what the fans play. If SOCOM 4 does not live up to the standards of its fans, the series should be dropped and left at that.
