I noticed when looking at comparisons of the old and new psp's and the old psp had an IR sensor while the new one does not. Was/is IR used for anything on the PSP? I definately haven't used it and don't even remember if it was mentioned during the E3 reveal. Is it just something they were supposed to get to but just gave up on, therefore removing it from the new psp? The only possible use I can think of is a Homebrew Remote, but I haven't seen that anywhere...

What do you think about this?

Yes, Sony never did anything with it so they got rid of it. People have created a homebrew remote and ability to use it to use IR keyboards, but thats the only uses that I know of it...and since Sony doesn't support homebrew, they have no reason to keep it ;)

You see...this is really an interesting story.

Sony is run by bodysnatchers, ok. That is why they made the PSP. The IR port is the output for a mind control device that targets anyone around a PSP. The head people of Sony were replaced with new aliens so that the others could go back home on shore leave. However, these new aliens were smarter. They decided that it would be beneficial to get rid of the super big and heavy IR port (Mind control output) and put in place a smaller, most likely more popular to be PSP that can plug in a TV. By doing this, Sony can control the minds of all those in ear's reach of a TV instead of the crappy speakers on the PSP.

They didn't put in the second analog because that would give us an edge on the war against them. They did not spend the money on developing an internal Hard Drive because they needed to spend extra money to develop the animal control abilities of the Sixaxis controller.

Couldn't have said it better...

Now if we could only control their minds with our own, big, heavy IR PSP Ports...

Just Imagine...

Back on Topic....

Does anyone think that they will ever do anything with the IR again or just scrap it forever?
