We just got a new entertainment center and the space for a tv in the middle is only big enough for a 32 in tv. Is this big enough for a living room? I guess its an upgrade from the tinny 20 in tube we have now lol, but I was really looking forward to getting a 40 in Samsung touch of color with 120 hz. I know a 32 in will cost much less, but should I still go with 120 hz, or does it not make much of a difference with a tv this size? Any input, or suggestions appreciated.

120Hz are worth it. You can't go wrong with bigger really. Depends on your living room size. I am about 12 feet from my TV so 60inch is the max I would go I have 52 inch now and its probably pushing it

It depends on the space in you living room and how far you sit from the tv. As long as it is HD and 1080p as almost all next gen games are shown this way. I have a 56" myself. My room is long so I wanted to be able to use the whole room and watch tv from all corners. My next tv is going to be at least a 40" I would have aimed for that at least regardless of space..... my wife says 42" Its because of her that we got the 56" I guess I shouldn't complain.

from what i've seen, 120hz looks so fake. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly is wrong with the motion, but it doesn't look real to me. also, is your living room big? 32" would be perfect for a small-ish living room.

IMO 40" is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. 32's look kinda small to me, but I'm real picky about that sorta stuff...

Topic title is priceless. I have a 46" Bravia. Before that it was a 37". By my preference Id go with at least a 42". But if price is a concern, or a small room, a 37 is prettty good. But you might be disappointed with a 32". One thing you dont want is to get a few weeks into owning something and wish you had gone with that little extra.

I'm using a 32" TV myself and it's suits me just fine. Then again, my room isn't very big so you might want to take that into consideration.

Like others said, depends on your setup and what you will be doing with the TV. I use my TV for movies and games so it presented a little problem. First I had a 32 inch, could be bigger for movies since we sit farther away (8 feet) but it wasn't horrible. Now we have a 37 inch, excellent for movies but playing games 4 to 5 feet away from the screen is too close in my opinion. PS3 is fine since it is wireless and you can back up, but with the PS2, GC, Dreamcast we are on a short leash and I'm not wasting money on wirelss controllers for those old systems. If the PS3 was BC, it wouldn't be a problem as much since I primarily play the superior PS2 library. So I sort of prefer the 32 inch since gaming is much more important that staring at a movie/show.

I have a 32" in my bed room and I'm directly in front of it too so... xD

To be honest. Are you worried about image quality or image size? The native resolution for 95% of console games is 720p meaning a 32" HDTV is perfect for gaming! There isn't anything different from Killzone 2 at its native resolution of 720p versus the game upscaled at 1080p on a 60" HDTV. Well, the only difference is that the image is bigger which isn't really saying much. The reality is that games like Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, and Resistance 2 are simply native to 720p. Now if you're sitting over a yard-stick away from your HDTV then you might wanna go bigger in size.

Edit #2: Blu-Ray movies do look better in 1080p then 720p as oppose to videogames. Plus HDTVs are much cheaper and it's just worth getting one that's at least 42" or 46".

I have a 32" bravia and I think it's too small. My living room is pretty small as well, I sit about 8' away from the tv.. I hung mine on the wall but I find myself standing up and getting a little closer when playing socom. I believe I need a 40" tv, it's the best size for small/middle sized rooms.

If you got a small sized room 32in is perfect. I got a 32in Sony Bravia 1080p TV and my room is a bit small. If you got an open style living room then get a 37 or 42in 1080p TV. 120Hz is better for HD Movies but just normal 60Hz TV's are fine.

The smallest I would go for a living room TV would be at least 36in. But a 32in would be good for a small living room. This thread should have been posted in the audio/ Hardware discussion Board.
