Hi there

Considering purchasing a vita bundled with tearaway and LBP - awaiting my staff discount before ordering

My question is:

Is it worth a purchase if I have no interest in Japanese games, racers or 'huge' AAA titles? I see myself sticking with the PS4 for those huge hits.

The main two games I was looking to play were tearaway and LBP, maybe Guacamale! too.

I also have a PS4 which will mean I can make use of the remote play to play games like FIFA and resgun when the TV is in use.

Thanks

In other words - i'd use it for some games via remote play e.g. FIFA, Resogun ect, and buy mainly platformers and those 'strange' games such as Tearaway and Octodad (should he come to vita)

You'll be essentially cutting more than half (two-thirds even!) of the library if you're not into those games, but I suggest looking into them if you have the time. The portable offers a completely different experience, despite Sony selling it for having a console-like experience on the go (which is also true). And oh, enjoy Tearaway!

It's a great companion for your PS4, but if you're also a PS+ member, even better! (Well, I think most PS4 users already are, since it's required for online multiplayer). You can focus your purchases on the PS4 while getting free games for the Vita every month. The discounts for subscribing also helps a lot too.

I just got my vita about 2 weeks ago and I love it.

It has come in handy for remote play. When im in the middle of a fifa match, sometimes my dad wants to watch tv on the big screen so I just hook up my remote play and continue on. Its such a cool feature.

If you have a ps4, I think the vita is a no brainer at this point. You could probably get the original model for pretty cheap now that its discontinued.

Dunno, you should probably look into more games. I'm not sure what you mean by "huge AAA titles" because the Vita doesn't really have a lot of those. Are you counting games like Gravity Rush and Uncharted Golden Abyss? Because those are 2 great games you should play that come with PS+. Also, I don't find remote play appealing, but that's just me and I don't share a TV.

Tearaway and LBP are awesome games but won't last you that long, especially with Tearaway. But if you consider expanding your game interest, it will probably be worth purchasing the Vita.

Thanks for all the comments

I do indeed have PS+, which certainly is a bonus with the free games each month.

I have another few weeks before my discount at work, so we shall see if the bundle is still in stock then :)

Thanks again, happy gaming!

Definitely worth it. I was on the fence pretty big time as I have a lot of other substitutes for a dedicated system, but it is nice to have. If you can afford it get it. It is nice to have a portable system where you can experience the random indie titles, and with PS+ free games every month is great. I like collecting the old school games, where my vita is bringing back king of fighters and street fighter on the go. For AAA it wont compete with a dedicated console on a big tv, but if you don't want it for that and accept it as a hand held with some great power go for it.

It might be a great idea, but there are games like Persona 4 and other games that are really good for the Vita. I would recomend those. But yeah, if there are games on other platforms and on Vita, you should get it on the PS3 or PS4

Actually, the price is still the same. I just picked one up a week ago for $189 (wi-fi) model. I believe the new model will fetch for the same price.

True the retail price is still the same but I should of been more specific in my post.

I seen a few drop in prices for pre-owned vita's on ebay and amazon since the slim was announced.

I'd wait until another price drop dude, or try to get it on sale or something. It does go hand in hand with the PS4 but personally I'm not a huge fan of "never stop playing" and like to take a break and enjoy my games at the right time(after work/school chilling in my room). The only games I want are Uncharted GA and P4 Golden, so I will have to do more research before I even consider buying it.
